Sanford Health has an immediate opening for a BC/BE Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon interested in pursuing a 1 year fellowship in Fargo, North Dakota.

• Join our team of one board-certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon and an APP

• This is a unique opportunity for the right candidate to expand their skill set within broad scope oral and maxillofacial surgery within a hospital setting at a level one trauma center in Fargo, North Dakota
• This one year fellow would gain exposure in maxillofacial trauma surgery, pathology and reconstructive surgery, orthognathic surgery, temporomandibular joint surgery, cleft and craniofacial surgery
• Fellow would function at the attending level for dentoalveolar surgery and OMFS related call (required 7 days per month)
• Didactic component with monthly conferences. Educational and research opportunities available

Job Description

Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Core Privileges include the ability to perform history and dental examination, admit, evaluate, diagnose and provide nonsurgical and surgical care to patients of all ages presenting with illnesses, injuries, and disorders of both the functional and aesthetic aspects of the hard and soft tissues of the oral and maxillofacial regions - except where specifically excluded from practice.

Qualifications

DDS or DMD degree.

Experience can be demonstrated in one of the following ways: An applicant who has just completed a residency shall provide his/her residency log. OR An applicant who is not applying directly out of a residency shall provide a quality profile from hospital(s) where he/she currently has privileges showing his/her clinical activity for the past 24 months, including numbers of procedures morbidity, mortality, infection rates and other complications. Applicant must be able to demonstrate active involvement in the clinical aspects of Oral & Maxillofacial surgery and case volumes should show performance of at least 100 in the past 24 months. OR If a quality profile is not available from the hospital(s) where the applicant currently has privileges, documentation of the applicants clinical and outpatient activity for the past 24 months is required. Applicant must be able to demonstrate active involvement in the clinical aspects of Oral & Maxillofacial surgery and case volumes should show performance of at least 100 procedures in the past 24 months.

Successful completion of a hospital affiliated oral & maxillofacial surgical residency program accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA). The Credentials Committee and the Board of Directors may consider training at residency/fellowship programs accredited by organizations other than the above. Current certification in Oral & Maxillofacial surgery by the American Board of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery OR Have successful completed an accredited residency in Oral & Maxillofacial surgery and active participation in the examination process with achievement of certification within 5 years of completion of formal training leading to specialty certification in oral & maxillofacial surgery by the American Board of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery. (Refer to each entities policy for grandfather exceptions)
