RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead daily safety practices by ensuring all associates complete required safety checks on cranes, tools, and equipment.
  • Model safe work behavior and mentor employees in hazard identification and risk prevention.
  • Review blueprints and specifications to plan fabrication layouts and workflow.
  • Work with peers and leadership to develop manufacturing plans from initial setup through final completion.
  • Coordinate and perform head pre‑inspections to ensure readiness and compliance.
  • Monitor project progress, track milestones, and maintain a two‑week look‑ahead schedule for internal and external services.
  • Support the Production Supervisor in maintaining productivity, efficiency, and timely escalation of concerns.
  • Allocate manpower effectively to match skills with project needs and maintain balanced workflow.
  • Collaborate with material handlers and other departments to ensure smooth production flow.
  • Order required materials, inspect incoming materials, and ensure efficient usage.
  • Train, mentor, and guide employees, including new hires and trainees, to build skill depth across machine operation and fabrication processes.
  • Provide ongoing performance feedback to employees and supervisors.
  • Coordinate with QA for weld training, testing, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Inspect materials and in‑process work to ensure compliance with specifications and quality standards.
  • Request QC inspections and partner with Quality Control to resolve issues.
  • Verify final product quality and ensure customer requirements for quality and delivery are met or exceeded.
  • Perform advanced welding processes including TIG, MIG, flux core, sub‑arc, spot, and seam welding.
  • Operate fabrication equipment such as plasma cutters, hydro‑formers, bumpers, flangers, polishers, drill presses, angle rolls, and shears.
  • Use cranes, hoists, forklifts, and hand tools safely and effectively, completing all required training.
  • Conduct grinding, polishing, hydro testing, and washing/crating according to specifications.
  • Prepare completed projects for shipment, ensuring proper protection of finishes.
  • Complete all required documentation accurately and on time.
  • Participate in PRE‑FAB and planning meetings to review manufacturability and anticipate needs.
  • Identify opportunities to improve productivity through better tooling, fixtures, processes, or shop aids.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment through consistent housekeeping and adherence to safety protocols.

 

EQUIPMENT KNOWLEDGE:

  • Proficiency with company‑provided pneumatic tools.
  • Skilled use of standard hand tools required for fabrication tasks.
  • Demonstrated use of basic computer systems to enter data, complete digital forms, and navigate production software.

 

GENERAL ROLE REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Minimum of three years of advanced welding and/or machine operation experience including TIG, MIG, flux‑core, spot, seam welding, flangers, presses, and lathes. 
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, ASME codes, and weld symbols.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced environment while meeting team expectations.
  • Understanding and adherence to company policies and procedures.
  • Commitment to following all safety rules and regulations.
  • Basic computer skills for documentation and communication.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area at all times.
  • Communicate and collaborate effectively with team members and assist in training others.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to continuous improvement in workmanship and processes.
  • Actively supports safety initiatives and participates in safety committee activities to promote a strong safety culture.
