  • High school level of knowledge.   

  • Behavior Management training required within 6 months of hire. 

  • BLS certification required or obtained within 3 months of hire/transfer. 

  • Minimum one year experience working with persons suffering from mental illness, alcoholism or substance abuse preferred.  

  • Observes confidentiality regarding protected health information. Demonstrates positive communication, posses tact, discretion, diplomacy and team work skills. Supports the decisions of the treatment team.  

  • Ability to work under stress, able to write legibly, document accurately. Must be able to communicate with patient observations to licensed and professional staff.  

  • Good organizational, priority setting and communication skills. Must be self motivated, observant, conscious of safety concerns in the immediate environment, alert to small changes in behavior.  

  • Ability to  recognize and intervene in potentially violent situations. Must demonstrate ability to effectively communicate, interact in a method that is appropriate for the age group to which the service is provided. 

  •  Ability to move and lift supplies up to 75 pounds and to safely move, transport patients using safe handling equipment.
