Samaritan Medical Center is expanding its cardiovascular services with the launch of a state-of-the-art Cardiac Catheterization Lab and enhancing its Cardiac Rehabilitation Program. We are seeking a Director of the Cardiac Cath Lab & Cardiac Rehab, an experienced and forward-thinking Registered Nurse (RN) Leader to provide strategic and clinical leadership over both areas.


This high-impact leadership role is responsible for building and managing a comprehensive continuum of cardiovascular care—from invasive cardiac procedures through outpatient rehabilitation—ensuring quality, safety, and superior patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

Cardiac Catheterization Lab:

  • Provide operational leadership and direct the daily functions of the Cardiac Cath Lab
  • Develop and implement clinical policies, protocols, and workflows in collaboration with medical staff
  • Drive evidence-based practices, regulatory compliance, and continuous quality improvement (CQI)
  • Manage staffing, scheduling, training, and performance evaluations
  • Collaborate with interventional cardiologists, imaging technologists, and nursing teams to ensure seamless care coordination
  • Monitor and report clinical, operational, and financial performance
  • Lead efforts to ensure exceptional patient safety, satisfaction, and outcomes

Cardiac Rehabilitation Program Oversight:

  • Oversee the planning, delivery, and evaluation of the outpatient Cardiac Rehab Program
  • Ensure Cardiac Rehab services meet national standards (e.g., AACVPR) and maintain program accreditation
  • Partners with physicians, exercise physiologists, dietitians, and behavioral health specialists to deliver individualized care plans for post-cardiac event patients
  • Implement initiatives to improve patient participation, outcomes, and long-term heart health
  • Track performance metrics including readmission rates, exercise tolerance improvements, and patient adherence
  • Develop community outreach strategies to expand program awareness and referrals

Requirements:

  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s degree in nursing required
    • Master’s degree in nursing, Healthcare Administration, or related field strongly preferred
  • Licensure/Certifications:
    • Current NY State Registered Nurse (RN) license or eligible
    • BLS and ACLS certification (American Heart Association) required
    • RCIS or CCRP certification preferred (if applicable)
  • Experience:
    • Minimum 5 years of clinical experience working in a cardiac cath lab is required.
    • Minimum 3 years of leadership experience in a cardiovascular, cardiac rehab, or critical care setting
    • Experience with program development or expansion strongly preferred

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong leadership, team building, and communication skills
  • Knowledge of cardiac rehab standards, clinical exercise physiology, and cardiovascular risk management
  • Familiarity with data tracking systems and performance dashboards
  • Experience with outpatient care coordination and patient education
  • Experience with STEMI program creation or expansion strongly preferred
