Schedules patients for office visits and follow up appointments. Registers patients in electronic medical records; ensures accuracy of patient demographics and insurance information; accurately completes insurance questionnaires/forms.

Medical record management: prepares charts for upcoming appointments; responsible to ensure all necessary documentation is in the chart prior to filing; obtains appropriate medical release form prior to copying/forwarding patient information. Enters appropriate billing information at check-out. Possesses understanding of CPT and ICD-9 coding. Collect co-pays from patients. Ensures accuracy of submitted Superbills. Enters hospital charges.

  • Proficiency with word processing software, with minimum typing speed of 40 wpm. 

  • Ability to compose correspondence and proof assignments to ensure accuracy of documents. 

  • Knowledge of medical terminology. 

  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and written and verbal communication skills required. 

  • Detail attentiveness required. Individual must be self-motivated and willing to self-direct. 

  • Previous experience in a health care environment preferred. 

  • Ability to simultaneously handle multiple assignments and projects with speed and accuracy. 

  • Able to work efficiently and effectively under time constraints. 

  • High school level of knowledge preferred.
