About the team

Our Corporate Affairs team is responsible for safeguarding and strengthening Sainsbury’s corporate reputation across all our brands. We operate at the centre of the business, partnering with colleagues across Corporate Affairs, Investor Relations, Marketing, Commercial, Finance and wider teams. As part of this fast‑paced and collaborative function, we deliver strategic, financial and corporate communications that help demonstrate our progress, purpose and performance to customers, colleagues, media, investors and other stakeholders.

 

More about the role

As a Strategic Communications Executive, you will support the delivery of Sainsbury’s strategic communications activity, playing a vital role in building and protecting our corporate reputation. You will help draft press releases, social media posts, briefing materials and other external communications, while also managing media lists, coordinating events and supporting our engagement with journalists.

You will maintain and update content across our corporate website, ensuring accuracy, timeliness and optimisation for AI. You will work closely with Investor Relations to support financial reporting moments, assist our press office with reactive media activity and provide essential team administration, including reporting, diary management, inbox management, invoicing and file organisation.

 

More about you

You will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce clear, accurate and engaging content. You’ll have an interest in current affairs, the media landscape and how major brands communicate externally across different channels.

You will be highly organised, detail‑focused and confident managing multiple tasks. You enjoy building relationships, working collaboratively and contributing to a positive, supportive team culture.

 

Essential criteria

  • Demonstrable ability to produce accurate written content for external communications such as press releases, social posts or briefing documents
  • Proven experience contributing to communications activity in an agency or in‑house environment, including internships or project-based work
  • Evidence of effective task management, including planning, prioritisation and delivery to deadlines with consistent attention to detail
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel to support communications, reporting and administrative tasks
  • Ability to build and maintain productive working relationships with internal colleagues and external stakeholders such as journalists or partners
