Sacred Circle Healthcare is seeking a full-time, Practice Manager - Optical, in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Job Summary

General Summary of Duties: 
​The Ancillary Services Practice Manager is responsible for providing management and oversight of daily support activities for the assigned department. The Practice Manager works in partnership with the Clinical Ancillary Services Director to ensure the provision of optimal patient care and ensure attainment of the organizational mission.

Major Responsibilities/Tasks:

  • Works with HR and the Clinical Ancillary Services Director in the hiring of needed support staff in assigned area.
  • Responsible for overseeing clinical operations in the assigned area including: support staff scheduling, patient flow and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Review and update assigned support staff hours in pay recording program and ensure they are updated in a timely manner for bi-weekly pay periods.
  • Develops guidelines for prioritizing work activities, evaluating effectiveness and modifying activities as necessary to ensure appropriate staffing levels are maintained.
  • Works under the direction of the Clinical Ancillary Services Director to ensure appropriate policies and procedures are being endorsed this includes: performing quarterly one-on-one’s, annual reviews, performing/documenting needed coaching and/or initial write-ups for the assigned support staff.
  • Collaborates with the Clinical Ancillary Services Director to develop and administer appropriate training for the staff of the assigned department.
  • Collaborates with Operations Managers to ensure front office staff are following appropriate workflows and scheduling templates and are collecting needed payments as indicated by the needs of the assigned area(s). 
  • Handles patient complaints that occur in the assigned clinical area(s).
  • Be aware of support staff needs and assisting as needed (where appropriate) – examples: assisting with patient care or assisting with patient visit prioritization.
  • Performs duties related to product management, inventory management, and cost of goods.
  • Participates in professional development activities and maintains indicated professional affiliations.
  • Attends required meetings and participates in committees as directed by the Clinical Ancillary Services Director.
  • Reads, understands, and adheres to all Sacred Circle Health Care Policies and Procedures.
  • Practices and adheres to the Code of Conduct and Mission and Values Statements.

Minimum Requirements:

EDUCATION: 

Training program associated with area of supervision – example: Optician Certification Program

EXPERIENCE: 

Minimum of 8 years as Support Staff in assigned area AND at least 2 years as a Supervisor.

CERTIFICATION/

LICENSE:

Current BLS Certification from AHA (or ability to acquire it within 6 months of starting position).

Any Certifications and/or Licensing required for the area where they previously acted as Support Staff – example: Certified Ophthalmic Assistant, Certification by American Board of Opticianry, etc.

Other:

Experience working with the Native American community. Experience working in a healthcare setting.

 

Preferred Requirements:

EXPERIENCE: 

Minimum of 10 years as Support Staff in assigned area AND at least 3 years as a Supervisor.

  • Ability to work independently and set priorities under minimal supervision.
  • Ability to preserve confidentiality of information.
