Our innovative solutions and customer focused approach provide our clients with unmatched value and quality.</p> <p><strong>Basic Position Summary:&nbsp;&nbsp;</strong>Direct all field construction activities and personnel to insure that the assigned project meets budget, schedule and safety objectives.&nbsp; A Superintendent 1 will generally supervise projects under $5M.</p> <p><strong><u>Responsibilities/Functions:</u></strong></p> <ul> <li>Plans and supervises all activities including determining method of construction, sequencing, manpower levels, material quantities, equipment and work schedule</li> <li>Trains and manages Foremen from various trades and field administrative personnel</li> <li>Through assigned Foremen, manages the day-to-day activities of the construction operation</li> <li>In conjunction with the Project Manager, creates and maintains project schedule; plans, monitors and reviews critical path dates and milestone schedules</li> <li>Communicates site problems, conflicts, schedule and quality issues effectively to the Project Manager and owner</li> <li>Resolves field construction problems</li> <li>Maintains open communication between all subcontractors to ensure all required materials, equipment, inspections, etc. support project activities and project schedule</li> <li>Monitors Foremen &amp; subcontractor compliance with project safety program requirements; insures that weekly safety inspections and toolbox talks are completed; ensures that corrective measures are implemented</li> <li>Assists the Safety Department in performing incident and/or accident investigations and follow-up</li> <li>Understands all subcontractors’ scopes; assures subcontractors maintain schedules, and quality standards meet contract requirements</li> <li>Assists the Project Manager with subcontractor disputes, quality control and schedule coordination</li> <li>Works with the Project Manager and owner’s representatives to ensure work complies with drawings and specifications</li> <li>Supports the Project Manager in the negotiation of claims and changes</li> <li>Provides input to Project Manager regarding cost and schedule forecasts</li> <li>Assists the Project Manager with review (% complete) of monthly pay requests submitted by contractors</li> <li>Assists the Project Manager with Change Order review</li> <li>Performs project close-out and ensures punch list is completed in a timely manner</li> <li>Monitors staffing levels that contribute to EEO goals for minorities and females</li> <li>Mentors Project Engineers assigned to the project</li> <li>Performs additional assignments per supervisor’s direction</li> <li>Ensure that foremen or self does daily recording of quantities, time and daily logs in Heavy Job.</li> </ul> <p><strong><u>Essential Skills and Experience:</u></strong></p> <ul> <li>A minimum of five years' experience on Demolition, Heavy Civil and/or Heavy Highway construction projects in a General Foreman or Craft Superintendent position</li> <li>Ability to read and interpret construction documents</li> <li>Effective communication skills</li> <li>Knowledge of construction scheduling, cost control and ability to control and supervise small to midsized groups</li> <li>Good organization, multi-tasking, leadership and decision-making ability</li> <li>Basic computer skills preferred</li> </ul> <p><strong><u>Physical Demands</u></strong><strong>:</strong></p> <p>While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to&nbsp;Carry tools and equipment,&nbsp;climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and see and hear well (either naturally or with correction), stand; walk, (stand for long periods of time) handle, or feel; use arms and hands to reach for, handle and manipulate objects. The employee must frequently work or walk on uneven ground and is required to wear steel toed boots at all times.&nbsp;It is mandatory that the employee wear approved personal protective equipment.&nbsp;The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.&nbsp;&nbsp;Perform a variety of duties while exposed to outside elements&nbsp;or confined spaces. Repeat tasks of short duration according to set procedures and evaluate information using measurable.
