We are looking for interns interested in state, local, federal, and international taxation.
The Scientific Research and Experimental Development (“SR&ED”) Intern (“Intern”) is responsible for assisting the SR&ED Manager and SR&ED Director identifying and claiming SR&ED tax credits. The work is project-based and sometimes requires the team to spend time onsite at client facilities, working with engineers and technical personnel. This role includes performing tasks such as drafting technical narratives, documenting expense treatment, and completing detailed models and calculations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Together with the SR&ED Manager or SR&ED Director, interviews clients, uncovering all SR&ED eligible projects and all information required to prepare the T661 filing.
  • Drafts the technical narratives for SR&ED tax credit claims of clients. This will also include the identification of specific employees, subcontractors and material expended in connection with the eligible activities identified.
  • Ensures all claims are prepared, signed off by the SR&ED Director and the clients, and completed for CRA filing.
  • Records all client interviews and saves the recordings in Ryan’s central file service.
  • Gathers samples of client supporting documents as claim(s) are prepared.
  • Tracks time by client and activity codes.
  • Assists the SR&ED Director in developing project work plans and scheduling associated project deliverables.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience: Working towards a Bachelor's or Master's degree in one of the fields of Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical or related disciplines) or the Sciences (Chemistry, Physics, Biology, or related disciplines). Must have excellent organization and time management skills, strong communication skills, and willingness to learn and be a team player.

Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be proficient in Microsoft® Excel and have a working knowledge of Microsoft® Word, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Internet navigation and research.

Certificates and Licenses: Valid driver’s license required.

Supervisory Responsibilities: N/A.

Compensation Summary: For Ontario based positions, this role pays $19/hr. The firm makes offers based on many factors, including qualifications and experience.
