Role Summary
As a Junior Investment Operations Analyst, you will provide support and services to both internal and external stakeholders. You will always represent Global Operations to the highest standard.
The Investment Operations team supports the business with the following tasks:
Client mandate and fund onboardings and offboarding.
Governance processes.
Guideline documentation.
Manager contracting.
Regulatory form oversight and reconciliations.
The team also provides critical support coverage to our front office, trading, compliance and operations team within our Order Management system Bloomberg. As a Junior Investment Analyst you will work closely with associates across Russell Investments including Investment Division, Compliance, Legal and Operations.
The responsibilities of the individual in this position include:
Regulatory & Business conduct

Effectively and collaboratively identifying, escalating, mitigating and resolving risk, conduct and compliance.
Internal Relationship Management
Interacting and coordinating with Portfolio Managers, Legal & Compliance, Operations, Technology, Sales, Operational Risk and Client Service on a regular basis.
Maintaining a high degree of visibility within the organisation.
Guidelines: Coding & Testing
Reviewing, interpreting and summarising investment guidelines for new mandates.
Ensuring proper restriction coding is inputted into the company’s order management systems (Bloomberg AIM).
Testing new and existing investment restrictions.
Ensuring applicable investment guideline updates are implemented.
Guidelines: Creating & reviewing documentation
Responsible for creating Fund/Account Guidelines documentation by reviewing IMA, Fund Prospectuses or Client SLAs.
Working closely with Fund Managers, Risk and Compliance to ensure guidelines adhere to Client/Fund contracts.
The successful candidate will have extensive demonstrable skills and experiences including the following:
GCSEs and A Levels or equivalent qualifications / equivalent experience required.
Undergraduate degree preferred.
Investment management knowledge is highly desirable.
Familiarity with investment instruments (equities, fixed income, derivatives) and how guidelines apply preferred.
A high-level understanding of key compliance regulations that impact guideline coding.
Experience liaising with external managers on administrative and operational requirements.
Moderate experience in compliance rule coding within Bloomberg CMGR.
Understanding of investment guidelines, restrictions, and compliance rule coding for external managers.
Ability to clearly document and explain coding rules to both internal teams and external managers.
Strong logical reasoning and common sense in a soft skills context.
Ability to interpret and input compliance rules and restrictions into Bloomberg.
Utilisation of Excel for data analysis and troubleshooting compliance-related issues.
Excellent attention to detail.
Strong problem-solving skills
