As part of the Sensors team based in Burnsville, Minnesota - The Design Engineering Intern will participate in the mechanical design, test and troubleshooting of various types of sensors for the aviation industry. Tasks will be part of a team effort that will be focused on the design of new products as well as support of current manufacturing. This is a great opportunity to learn fundamental principles of the aviation industry, gain experience in multidisciplinary technology development, regulations, and gain experience in presenting technical information. This position is onsite, in Burnsville, MN. This role may be eligible for relocation.

What You Will Do:

  • You will assist in developing of data and makes layouts, sketches, and notes for design proposals.
  • You will participates in investigation of pertinent design factors such as ease of manufacture, availability of materials and equipment, interchangeability, replace ability, strength-weight efficiency, and contractual specification requirements and cost.
  • You will assist in designing, developing and testing metallic or non-metallic structures or materials and their related fabrication processes for use in engineering designs.

  • You will learn about designs of major components or major portions of functional systems, technically advanced prototypes, and promotional or specific products using computer design and engineering systems.
  • You will gain knowledge in developing and improving products and facilitates in manufacturing operations.

The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits, including but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, Employee Scholar Program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays. Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.

Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
