Position Summary:

Provide senior leadership for portfolio-wide Design Planning & Analytics across Newbuild and Fleetmod programs. Own the strategy, standards, and governance for project planning methodologies, tools, and data. Lead a team of managers and specialists to institutionalize common templates, deliverables, and best practices; integrate advanced analytics to inform investment decisions; and embed continuous improvement with measurable outcomes. Partner with Mission Control, Business Excellence, program leadership, and functional stakeholders to align near-term execution with the 10-year portfolio outlook, ensuring high-quality, data-driven decisions and adherence to stage-gate and compliance requirements.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Lead, coach, and develop a multi-disciplinary team (including managers and senior planners/analysts); build succession pipelines, establish operating rhythms, and drive a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Set the Planning & Analytics strategy and governance for the portfolio; define standards, methods, and quality controls for schedules, baselines, and reporting across programs and projects.
  • Own integrated master schedules and portfolio roadmaps; orchestrate cross-program critical-path, dependency, and scenario analyses to optimize schedule, scope, and resource trade-offs.
  • Establish enterprise KPIs and performance frameworks; build executive-ready dashboards and narratives (e.g., Power BI) that translate data into insights, forecasts, and decisions.
  • Drive cross-functional process improvement using Lean/Six Sigma/Agile toolkits; facilitate workshops, author standards, and lead change management to land new ways of working.
  • Standardize scheduling software configurations and data structures across internal teams, yards, suppliers, and external design firms to enable portfolio consolidation and benchmarking.
  • Conduct portfolio and project audits/reviews; institute corrective-action plans and coach teams on schedule discipline, risk handling, and readiness for key stage gates.
  • Lead schedule and operational risk management, including identification, quantification, mitigation planning, and escalation management; ensure alignment with quality and compliance expectations.
  • Own the Design Planning & Analytics data strategy (definitions, lineage, and governance); improve data quality and accessibility to support predictive and prescriptive analytics.
  • Translate long-term Design demand (10-year outlook) into capacity and resource plans; recommend investments, sequencing options, and phasing to balance cost, risk, and value.
  • Partner closely with shipyards, Business Excellence, Mission Control (PMO), Corporate stakeholders, Finance, and Operations to align plans, remove impediments, and deliver outcomes.
  • Champion capability building—develop training, playbooks, and communities of practice; mentor design leaders and teams to self-sufficiently apply methods and tools.

Knowledge & Skills:

  • 10+ years leading complex capital project/portfolio planning and analytics, including large multi-party programs; 5+ years directly managing managers and senior individual contributors.
  • Expertise with portfolio planning and scheduling tools and practices; proficiency building enterprise dashboards and analytics (e.g., Power BI) to drive executive decisions.
  • Proven record applying Lean/Six Sigma/Agile methods for process improvement, with measurable business outcomes; strong change management and facilitation skills.
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills; able to influence senior leadership and external partners with clear, data-backed narratives.
  • Advanced analytical capability (scenario modeling, forecasting, resource optimization) with strong attention to detail and quality.
  • Shipbuilding, maritime, or large-scale construction experience preferred; ability to integrate supplier and yard schedules into a cohesive portfolio view.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Naval Architecture, Business/Operations Management, Project Management, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Business, Analytics, or related field preferred.
  • Professional certifications such as PMP and/or Lean Six Sigma (Black Belt preferred) considered strong pluses.
