Royal Caribbean Group’s Corporate communications team has an exciting career opportunity for a full time Director communications Mexico. reporting to the AVP. Corporate communications. 

 

Position Summary
The Director of Communications, Mexico, is a senior leadership position responsible for crafting and executing comprehensive communications strategies that advance the organization’s mission, reputation, and visibility across Quintana Roo, Cozumel, Mexico City, and other priority locations throughout the country. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of the Mexican media landscape and key in-market issues, and understand complex geopolitical issues across local, state, and federal governments. The person must have exceptional leadership skills, strong interpersonal abilities, and the ability to manage tough communications initiatives across multiple teams, time zones, and regions.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Develop, lead, and refine the overall communications strategy for Quintana Roo, Cozumel, and Mexico City, and other priority Mexican locations, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and objectives.
  • Identify and prioritize key audiences, messages, and communication channels to maximize reach and impact.
  • Advise senior leadership on reputation management, crisis communications, and strategic messaging.

 

 

Media Relations

  • Build and sustain positive relationships with local, regional, and national media outlets.
  • Serve as principal spokesperson for the organization in Mexico, representing the brand at press conferences, interviews, and public events.
  • Oversee the drafting and distribution of press releases, op-eds, and other media content tailored for Mexican audiences.
  • Monitor and analyze media coverage, providing regular reports and recommendations to leadership.

 

 

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Establish and nurture collaborative relationships with community leaders, government agencies, NGOs, business partners and in-market influencers across Mexico.
  • Design and implement stakeholder engagement strategies that foster trust and support for organizational initiatives.
  • Facilitate effective internal communication across teams and departments in Mexico, ensuring a unified voice and consistent messaging.

 

 

Content Development

  • Oversee the creation of high-impact communications materials, including speeches, presentations, digital content, annual reports, newsletters, and multimedia campaigns.
  • Ensure all content complies with organizational standards, is culturally relevant, and resonates with target audiences.
  • Encourage innovative storytelling and creative approaches for communicating complex issues.

 

 

Crisis and Issues Management

  • Lead crisis communication planning and response for the region, developing protocols for rapid and effective engagement.
  • Prepare and coach leaders and spokespeople for media interactions during sensitive or high-profile situations.
  • Continuously monitor public sentiment and emerging issues, proactively recommending strategies to safeguard reputation.

 

 

Advisor to and Partner with in-Market Leadership Team

  • Serve as a key strategic advisor to in-market leadership across Private Destination, Operations, Corporate Affairs, and others to provide guidance on proactive and reactive communications approach.
  • Serve as the main point person for on-the-ground communications, reporting back to Corporate HQ on in-market sentiment, real-time updates, and adjustments needed to best support overarching strategy.

 

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • 12+ years of progressive experience in communications, with at least 3 years in a senior leadership role.
  • Proven track record of designing and executing successful communications strategies, preferably in Mexico or Latin America.
  • Expert knowledge of the Mexican media landscape, including digital, print, radio, and television platforms.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in both Spanish and English.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage communications during crisis situations.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and experience engaging with diverse stakeholders, including government, media, business, and community organizations.
  • Experience leading and developing teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines and shifting priorities.
  • High level of cultural competence and sensitivity to regional and local contexts.
  • Willingness to travel regularly across Quintana Roo and other priority Mexican locations.
