About this role

GENERAL PURPOSE: 
The Freight Pay Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the auditing and processing of freight payments for Transportation expense.  The position should monitor compliance to Ross Transportation rates, contracts and policies while adhering to Corporate Sarbanes Oxley requirements. Acts as a liaison between Finance, Transportation and other Ross departments as well as with Vendors and Carriers on freight pay related issues. The position is a heavy user of spreadsheets and PC database software for analysis purposes.    

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
•    Oversee proper internal controls over freight payment for all Transportation expenses.
•    Lead and develop a team of freight pay specialists that support the payment, reconciliation and auditing of Transportation invoices.  This includes     individual development, team progression and organizational improvement initiatives.
•    Ensure invoices are processed timely and agings are monitored.  Follow up with vendors on outstanding issues. 
•    Investigate and resolve accounting issues relating to freight bill payment and auditing of freight bills.
•    Work with Transportation to ensure invoices are paid based on latest Ross Transportation rates, contracts and policies.
•    Support ad hoc projects as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED:
•    BS/BA in accounting or finance required.
•    4-6 years’ experience with Transportation freight pay or related field.
•    Prior experience with supply chain or logistics analysis highly desirable.        
•    Ability to work effectively as a team member on projects.
•    Strong interpersonal skills; confidently interact with senior personnel.
•    Ability to thoroughly question the information provided by others in a non-adversarial manner.
•    Confidentiality concerning all projects.
•    Ability to deal effectively with pressure, multiple tasks, deadlines and rapidly changing priorities.
•    Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
•    Proficient skills in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Access.
•    Knowledge of accounting theory and strong mathematical skills.
•    Clear and concise oral and written communication skills.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ADA:
Job requires ability to work in an office environment, primarily on a computer. 
Requires sitting, standing, walking, reaching, hearing, talking on the telephone, attending in-person meetings, typing, handling objects with hands, and working with paper/files, etc. 
Consistent timeliness and regular attendance.  
Vision requirements: Ability to see information in print and/or electronically.
Routine deadlines; usually sufficient lead time; variance in work volume seasonal and predictable; priorities can be anticipated; some interruptions are present; travel or other inconveniences have advance notice; involves occasional exposure to demands and pressures from persons other than immediate supervisor.
