About this opportunity... 

The Senior Analyst, Merchant Operations plays a critical role in transforming complex data into actionable insights that drive strategic decisions across the organization. Partnering closely with the Director of Merchandise Operations, this individual will lead the development of reporting tools, dashboards, and analytics that illuminate business performance, uncover opportunities, and validate new initiatives. The ideal candidate is a data storyteller—someone who can translate findings into clear, compelling narratives for senior leadership. This role requires a blend of technical acumen, business curiosity, and a passion for continuous improvement. The Senior Analyst will operate with a high degree of autonomy, managing deliverables and expectations while fostering strong cross-functional relationships. They will need to be an innovator for data and analytics, explaining insights in a way that is easily understood. The individual must be able to recommend ways to optimize existing reports to streamline and improve the analysis process. Individual needs to be skilled at communication, developing relationships and has strong technical/functional skills.  

The base salary range for this role is $87,000 – $97,000. The base salary range is dependent on factors including, but not limited to, experience, skills, qualifications, relevant education, certifications, seniority, and location. The range listed is just one component of the total compensation package for employees. Other rewards vary by position and location.

What you will do and what you will learn…

  • Design, build, and maintain scalable reporting solutions using Excel, Access, Power BI, and internal data platforms to support Merchandising strategy and operations. Work includes enhancements to existing reports and building new tools to drive business analysis.  Provide support and troubleshooting for all reports under this control area.
     
  • Conduct ad hoc analyses and data investigations to answer business questions, identify trends, and support decision-making. 
     
  • Develop insights and analytics from data/reports.  Details should be prepared in a concise summary easily understood by senior management.  Identify and solve business problems using analytics and unstructured data.
     
  • Identify opportunities to improve the end-to-end reporting process.  Look for ways to improve the speed and quality that information is pulled and delivered.  
     
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify reporting gaps and opportunities for automation and process optimization.
     
  • Continuously evaluate and enhance reporting tools to improve speed, accuracy, and usability.
     
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on data sources and reporting systems, providing troubleshooting and support as needed.
     
  • Apply critical thinking to assess the impact of new concepts and initiatives, validating outcomes through data analysis.
     
  • Represent the Merchandise Operations team in meetings with executives and key stakeholders, communicating findings and recommendations effectively.

What you need to be successful...

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Data Science, or Statistics
     
  • 4-6 years of data analytics experience. Retail or supply chain background preferred but not necessary
     
  • Experience managing and analyzing large datasets in Microsoft Excel or other BI and/or data visualization tools
     
  • Passion for analytics, working with data and deriving insights to answer business stakeholder questions and drive actions and decision-making
     
  • Organizationally and operationally savvy
     
  • Ability to think critically and strategically
     
  • Relationship builder with internal teams and executives at senior levels
     
  • Able to translate complex analytics/data sciences concepts in terms that are easily understood and accessible to Merchants at various levels of seniority and sophistication with material
     
  • Ability to take initiative, multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment
     
  • Strong detail orientation is essential in this role
     
  • A Team player and self-starter
