About the Role

Rolls‑Royce SMR is seeking a highly capable Procurement Manager – Supply Chain Risk & Resilience to strengthen the organisation’s ability to anticipate, prepare for, respond to, and recover from supply chain disruptions.

Working at the heart of our Supply Chain function, you will collaborate closely with Procurement, central Risk Management, and our external supplier network to embed robust risk and resilience practices that underpin safe, secure and reliable programme delivery.

You will lead the development and continuous improvement of the tools, systems, processes, and insights that enable informed, proactive decision‑making across our supply chain. Acting as the organisation’s subject matter expert, you will shape the strategies, frameworks and behaviours that drive end‑to‑end resilience across a globally diverse supplier ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities

Managing Risk Across Procurement & Supply Chain

  • Ensure Supply Chain Risk & Resilience reviews are completed in line with business governance requirements.
  • Support colleagues in preparing risk assessments, evaluations and mitigation plans.
  • Gather and analyse qualitative and quantitative data to assess supplier risk exposure and performance.
  • Develop KPIs, dashboards and reporting to support transparency and decision‑making.
  • Use market intelligence to identify emerging risks and collaborate with stakeholders to mitigate impacts.

Evaluating & Advising on Risks

  • Develop practical approaches to mitigate supply chain risks that may affect organisational reputation or programme delivery.
  • Provide insights on globalisation factors, regulatory changes, cyber threats, disruptive technologies and fraud.
  • Interpret external legal and regulatory developments and advise on compliance and mitigation.
  • Lead assessments of financial risk exposure and provide recommendations to stakeholders.

Managing the Challenges of Global Supply Chains

  • Evaluate STEEPLED factors and their impact on global supply chain operations.
  • Ensure suppliers maintain appropriate Business Continuity, Crisis Management and Disaster Recovery Plans in line with the Supply Chain Resilience Manual.
  • Monitor compliance with ethical standards and global labour regulations, taking necessary actions where breaches occur.

Developing Capability Across the Function

  • Build knowledge, capability and performance across the P&SC function to strengthen resilience.
  • Support the development of Risk & Resilience Champions across the team.
  • Work with suppliers to improve their capabilities and ensure alignment with Rolls‑Royce SMR requirements.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Lead risk and resilience activity with stakeholders across multiple levels, functions and reporting lines.
  • Manage expectations effectively and ensure alignment with governance, systems, and strategic objectives.
  • Communicate complex technical information clearly to non‑technical audiences.

Selection Criteria

We’re looking for candidates who can demonstrate most of the following:

  • A relevant degree or equivalent experience.
  • Strong experience within risk and/or resilience roles (minimum 3 years).
  • Significant practical experience in supply chain risk management, resilience planning, or comparable functions.
  • Understanding of global supply chain dynamics, regulatory developments, and risk controls.
  • Ability to interpret market intelligence and apply insights to strategic planning.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • MCIPS, IoSCM, BCI or equivalent experience (desirable).
  • Experience using ARM or similar risk management systems (advantageous).
  • Understanding of nuclear industry requirements (advantageous).

Key Selection Criteria

  • Supply Chain Risk Management – Risk identification, evaluation, mitigation, and reporting.
  • Resilience & Business Continuity – Crisis planning, disaster recovery, supplier resilience assurance.
  • Global Supply Chain Insight – Ethical compliance, STEEPLED analysis, regulatory awareness.
  • Capability Development – Supporting internal teams and suppliers to improve their resilience maturity.
  • Stakeholder Management – Influencing across complex governance and organisational structures.

Pay and Benefits

We anticipate paying a salary within £57,600–£74,500 (DOE) plus:

  • Bonus: Performance‑related bonus of up to 12.5%
  • Benefits Allowance: £2,200 to build a bespoke benefits package
  • Pension: 12% employer / 6% employee contribution
  • Holidays: 28 days + public holidays, with the option to buy or sell up to 4 days
  • Private Medical Insurance: BUPA single cover
  • Life Assurance: 6x pensionable pay
  • Home Office Support: One‑off £250 payment for new starters
