THE ROLE

We are seeking an experienced Assistant Financial Accountant to join our Finance team as a replacement hire. This is a hands-on, broad financial accounting role supporting month-end close, balance-sheet integrity, statutory compliance and internal control improvements.

You will work closely with the Head of Finance and across Sales, Marketing, Supply Chain and global finance teams (Japan, US, Europe). This role is ideal for someone who enjoys ownership, structure, problem-solving and continuous improvement in a small team environment.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Financial Reporting & Month-End

  • Assist with timely and accurate monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting.

  • Prepare journals, accruals, prepayments and P&L schedules in line with AASB requirements.

  • Perform timely balance-sheet reconciliations, investigate variances and resolve discrepancies.

  • Support management reporting, variance analysis and reporting packs for local and overseas HQ.

  • Maintain fixed asset registers and prepare year-end schedules.

Governance, Compliance & Audit

  • Support internal audit, J-SOX and Mutual Audit requirements.

  • Prepare audit schedules, supporting documentation and reconciliations.

  • Ensure compliance with AASB accounting standards and internal accounting policies.

  • Assist with strengthening internal controls, risk mitigation activities and control documentation.

  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of SOPs and process documentation.

General Ledger & ERP

  • Maintain accurate general and subsidiary ledgers in Sage X3.

  • Perform AR, AP, intercompany and control account reconciliations.

  • Use Nectari (Excel plug-in) and Excel to extract, analyse and reconcile data.

  • Support system improvements, reporting enhancements and process automation.

Ad-hoc & Projects

  • Assist with ad-hoc finance projects, process reviews and system initiatives.

  • Support cross-functional teams with financial data, analysis and system queries.

  • Actively contribute ideas to improve efficiency, controls and reporting quality.


ABOUT YOU

Essential

  • CA / CPA / ACCA qualified, or in final year of studies, with 1-2 years solid financial accounting experience.

  • Proven experience in month-end close, balance-sheet reconciliations and financial reporting.

  • Demonstrated exposure to internal audit, J-SOX and AASB accounting standards.

  • Strong Excel skills (complex reconciliations, pivots, lookups, analysis).

  • Experience working with ERP systems (Sage X3 highly regarded).

  • Strong attention to detail, accountability and deadline discipline.

  • Proactive and self-directed, with the confidence to work autonomously while knowing when to seek guidance.

  • Confident communicator and proactive problem-solver.

  • Comfortable working in a small team and supporting others when needed.

  • Full Australian working rights required.

Work Arrangement (Non-Negotiable)

  • 2 days per week working from the Dee Why office is mandatory.
