POSITION SUMMARY: The Acupuncturist is responsible for providing acupuncture services to participants in an outpatient setting. This position plays and essential role in treating participants in a holistic manner. The Acupuncturist will work in conjunction with other clinical disciplines as a member of the interdisciplinary team (IDT). The Acupuncturist is required to complete thorough evaluations, develop appropriate treatment plans, provide treatments, while continually assessing outcomes and adjusting treatment approach as appropriate.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Treat participants using acupuncture techniques, within scope of practice
Use tools appropriate to participant care needs. This could include inserting needles to provide acupuncture treatment or the use of other methods such cups
Evaluate acupuncture treatment progress and outcomes and modify treatment plan as appropriate to promote , restore, or maintain health
Identify correct anatomical and proportional point locations based on participants anatomy and positions
Provide participant centered treatments, while being aware of any contraindications and precautions related to the use of intradermal needles and/or electricity; such as bleeding risks or other health comorbidities
Evaluates participants medical history and current presenting issues to develop a treatment plan that is in accordance with the participants interdisciplinary care plan.
Works in harmony with the Western Medicine practices listed in the participants care plan
Keeps accurate, timely and thorough records in the participants electronic health record detailing evaluations, treatment plan, care plan, treatments, and treatment outcomes
Manage referrals, tasks and other requirements in the EHR (electronic health record), timely and accurately.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
Masters of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (MAOM) required
License to practice Acupuncture in the state of Colorado required
5 or more years of experience in providing Acupuncture services in a clinical setting required
1 year experience working with the frail or elderly population preferred
Membership in an accreditation program for Acupuncture preferred
Experience working in electronic health records and tracking health outcomes highly desired

Physical Requirements While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to traverse across a variety of terrains inside an office environment, outdoors and in participants homes (if applicable). This role will also be required to operate computer equipment, tools or other objects needed to perform the essential duties of the role. This role requires the ability to communicate effectively through written and verbal forms. This role often is required to position oneself in a kneeling, bending, or crouching position as well as ascending and/or balancing on a ladder. The employee may be required to endure extremes in temperature and may work in hazardous environments where personal protective equipment is required. Requires the ability to move boxes, participants, supplies/equipment, etc. up to 15 pounds using appropriate body mechanics or push/pull 150 pounds using proper equipment and/or body mechanics.
Environmental Conditions Working conditions may be noisy with fluctuating indoor temperatures. Must have the ability to work under moderate pressure in order to meet scheduled appointments or deadlines while dealing with frail, disabled and/or confused participants/clients. Subject to individuals who may have the potential for physical or verbal aggression. May be exposed to a risk of bodily injury through contact with moving instrumentation, toxic substances, medicinal preparations, bodily fluids, communicable diseases and other conditions common in a clinic environment. Subject to unpleasant odors.
