As a Backend Engineer, you will have the independence, opportunity, and end-to-end responsibility to help us build a critical, complex set of backend systems that support the creators of games and other experiences within our Roblox ecosystem.


The Creator Success Team empowers Roblox to be the best development platform for creating 3D social experiences, allowing our creators to publish compelling content within the Roblox ecosystem. This includes services and solutions around the Creator Hub, Developer Forum, and Creator Dashboard. You will create and own mission-critical services in this cross-discipline team within our Roblox ecosystem.


As a team, we believe in fast iteration and are biased toward action while keeping the long view. We have numerous exciting projects ahead of us for the years to come, including but not limited to:



  • Build ML-driven services and large scale data pipeline to drive player insights and optimise monetization opportunities for creators

  • Build next generation communication platform providing creators with powerful tools to manage the player community, organize virtual events, and collect player feedback

  • Build a state-of-the-art remote configuration/experiment platform to enable the continued growth of games with the world's largest concurrent user(CCU)


You will



  • Lead technical decision-making and guide the development team.

  • Lead engineering and development for our services and systems at a massive scale

  • Collaborate with cross-functional and cross-team leaders to push the boundary of what is possible

  • Self-organize and take ownership of projects throughout their full lifecycle.


You have



  • Experience in industry: An outstanding software engineer with 8+ years of industry experience 

  • Experience with Distributed Systems: You are deeply familiar with and regularly work with concepts like stream processing, data pipeline, queue, RPC, retry strategies, etc

  • Experience with native code: You have worked on deep and challenging problems in complex networked codebases, with 3+ years of experience in C#, Java, Go, or any other object-oriented programming languagePlatforms: You can jump with ease between Windows, OS X, Linux, Android, iOS, and other platforms. You understand where platform-specific code is relevant.

  • Responsibility: You build systems with proper monitoring, logging, operations, and automated testing in mind.Teamwork: A team player and love collaborating with others to push the boundaries and challenge the status quo



 


For roles that are based at our headquarters in San Mateo, CA: The starting base pay for this position is as shown below. The actual base pay is dependent upon a variety of job-related factors such as professional background, training, work experience, location, business needs and market demand. Therefore, in some circumstances, the actual salary could fall outside of this expected range. This pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. All full-time employees are also eligible for equity compensation and for benefits as described on this page.

Annual Salary Range
$295,250$345,040 USD

Roles that are based in an office are onsite Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with optional presence on Monday and Friday (unless otherwise noted).
