Overview
Responsible for providing leadership and daily support of Patient Access operations in an effort to maintain quality, productivity, point of service collections and various ongoing customer service initiatives. Provides project management and leads process improvement initiatives to create efficient workflows and improve the patient experience. Ensures adequate orientation, training and education is provided, coaches and mentors team, performs quality audits as well as handles staffing, employee engagement, regulatory compliance and data integrity. Understands and can support any of the roles managed under Patient Access to include Benefits Specialist. Patient Access responsibilities may include Central Registration, ER Registration, Visitor Management, Insurance Verification, Communications Switchboard, and Benefit Specialist as needed. Is expected to cover shifts when there are vacancies. Responsible for 24/7 coverage.

What you will do
  • Plans, coordinates, manages and directs all areas of registration for Patient Access.
  • Manages daily work of Patient Access teams and maintains department operations; ensures department is adequately staffed at all times. RWRH Manager is responsible for the Communications Switchboard in addition to Patient Access Departments. RMHR maintains court paperwork and TDO and HPR5 communications
  • Ensures department meets or exceeds quality, productivity and customer service metrics.
  • Interviews, hires and onboards new team members.
  • Provides staff orientation, education and training. Ensures individuals are competent to perform their job duties. Annually assesses staff competency; provides coaching and mentoring as needed.
  • Oversees Time of Service collections. Ensures team members close cash drawers timely and accurately.
  • Works assigned work queues daily to include patient, account (DNB and Denial) and claim edits to ensure accuracy of registration data.
  • Performs any of the Patient Access roles as needed.
  • Responsible for timekeeping and payroll submission.
  • Supports and leads process improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

Education
  • High School Diploma or GED, (Required)
  • Bachelors Degree, Business Administration or related field. (Preferred)

Experience
  • 5-6 years Revenue Cycle experience (Required)
  • 2 years Supervisory experience (Preferred)

Licenses and Certifications
  • Certified Healthcare Access Manager (CHAM) - National Association of Healthcare Access Management (NAHAM) (Preferred)
  • CRCR - Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA) (Preferred)
  • Revenue Cycle Certifications (CHAM, CRCR, or CRCE) within 1 Year (Required)
