Overview
Performs functions regarding athletic injuries, prevention, assessment, treatment and reconditioning. Responsible for educating the public on injury prevention, rehabilitation, wellness and other health-related issues. Location of work might include any combination of outpatient clinic; recreational facility, school, or university treatment headquarters; or at practice or game sites.

What you will do
  • Builds trusting collaborative relationships with a multi-disciplinary team to support patient care needs. Collaborates appropriately with other disciplines to develop, implement, and evaluate patient care plans. Participates in care team meeting.
  • Participates positively in the training and support of all team members, volunteers and students as needed. Proactively participates in and provides feedback to team members/learners.
  • Demonstrates the ability to perform the following functions regarding athletic injuries: prevention, assessment, treatment, and reconditioning as set forth by the National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA) and Board of Certification for the Athletic Trainer (BOC).
  • Demonstrates consistent fiscal accountability by providing recommendations and participating in supply utilization changes that support cost containment. Participates and provides feedback in new equipment/product evaluations; identifies and recommends solutions for cost savings and waste reduction.
  • Promotes a healthy community through participation in educational offerings, pre-season physicals, screenings, health fairs, and other health promotion opportunities.
  • Demonstrates the ability to design and implement prevention programs and the ability to provide appropriate injury recognition, evaluation, and immediate care. Effectively participates in rehabilitation and reconditioning of injuries and completes appropriate documentation and follow-up communication in a timely manner.
  • Works closely with other members of sports medicine team to determine opportunities for increasing referrals within RHS, capturing additional customers, and growing the sports medicine program.

Qualifications

Education
  • Bachelors Degree, Health Education or Related (Required) or
  • Masters Degree, (Required)

Experience
  • Recent relevant experience (Preferred)

Licenses and Certifications
  • Athletic Trainer (ATC) - Board of Certification Inc (BOC) Upon Hire(Required) and
  • CPR/BLS Certification - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) within 30 Days(Required)
