About this role

Position Summary

Under direction, this position plans, assigns, directs, and inspects the work and safety practices of personnel involved in the installation, testing, calibration, modification, maintenance, repair, and servicing of industrial electrical and electronic instruments, equipment, devices, controls, and machinery. This role also includes the essential duties and job qualifications required of a journeyman electrician.


Essential Duties

  • Supervise one or more employees on a regular basis
  • Schedule, assign, plan, and monitor the work of electrical personnel performing projects
  • Ability to reliably distinguish and identify standard electrical wire colors (e.g., black, red, blue, brown, white, gray, green, yellow) in compliance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and safety regulations. This is considered an essential function of the position and must be performed with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Train and inform electrical personnel of current and new work procedures, changes in safety regulations, work policies, and electrical codes and standards
  • Coordinate and direct work with project managers, engineers, customers, and others to discuss project information and resolve matters such as work procedures, complaints, and project issues
  • Respond to customer complaints and emergency conditions in accordance with adopted procedures.
  • Communicate, adhere to, and enforce company and customer policies and goals, including but not limited to health and safety policies and employee manual.
  • Enforce compliance with current electrical codes, OSHA and MSHA regulations and standards.
  • Maintain and enforce a professional attitude and appearance
  • Ensure confidentiality of information related to personnel, company operators, and customers.
  • Ensure proper maintenance and care of equipment
  • Enforce and comply with the company’s asset management system
  • Manage resources to meet financial objectives.
  • Complete projects within budget and on schedule.
  • Promote and maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in accordance with OSHA, company and customer safety regulations.
  • Maintain a current State Electrician's License.
  • Perform physically demanding work, including but not limited to lifting 50 pounds, bending, kneeling, crawling, climbing, and working in confined spaces, extreme temperatures, noisy or dusty environments, and adverse weather conditions, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Represent and promote the company in a positive and professional manner in all interactions and job-related travel.
  • Work overtime, weekends, nights, and holidays as needed.
  • Travel to job sites, which may include overnight stays, when required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Job Qualifications / Education / Experience

  • High school diploma or GED required. 
  • Successful completion of a state-approved 4-year Industrial Electrician Apprenticeship Program or degree from a technical college required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience on commercial/industrial projects required.
  • Current State Electrical License (Journeyman or Master preferred).
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Ability to understand electronic theory and terminology, and be proficient in/with the tools, materials, methods, and practices of the electrical trade.
  • Proficiency in the tools, materials, methods, and practices of the electrical trade.
  • Experience interpreting and applying the National Electrical Code (NEC) and local/state electrical codes.
  • Understands OSHA/MSHA safety standards and best practices in electrical safety.
  • Ability to reliably distinguish and identify standard electrical wire colors (e.g., black, red, blue, brown, white, gray, green, yellow) in compliance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and safety regulations, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to comprehend and apply job-related instructions and materials in English, with or without reasonable accommodation or through an approved translation method, as required for safe and effective job performance. Basic proficiency in reading, writing, and arithmetic is required.
  • Must have the ability to assess and improve team performance and drive results.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills. Must be able to present information clearly to co-workers, customers and consultants.
  • Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the role, with or without reasonable accommodation.
