Position: Education & Conservation Coordinator (Full Time)            

Location: Ripley’s Aquarium of Canada Reports to: Manager of Education and Conservation 

Job Purpose: Reporting to the Manager of Education and Conservation, the Education Coordinator is the primary contact person for all inquiries coming into the Education department and is responsible for the sales and coordination of all Education Department offerings. The Education Coordinator provides exemplary customer services to parents, teachers and other guests to promote Aquarium bookings and experiences.

Please remember that due to the nature of our business, we work when others play in an attraction that is open 365 days of the year! You will be expected to be regularly available to work any shift during, before or after these hours of operation.  

Critical Accountabilities:

  •  Communicating clearly in-person, by phone, and in e-mail with a variety of audiences to address standard operational questions and to assist in a friendly & courteous manner
  • Coordinate school group scheduling, confirmation, payment and check in.
  • Be the onsite point of contact for teachers arriving for booked programs. 
  • Providing strong administration support with POS processing, booking, payments and receipts via accurate and responsible usage of POS terminals as per company policy
  • Assist with booking sleepover groups, experience guests and homeschool families, and addressing guest concerns.
  • Assist the Manager and Supervisor with coordinating the Education staff. 
  • Staying current with all Aquarium activities including, but not limited to, educational & public programs, exhibits, special events, etc., and is completely conversant in all pertinent details such as dates, times, costs, registration processes and requirements
  • Maintaining Education department files in an organized and appropriate manner, taking into consideration the responsible and safe handling of sensitive personal information and financial details
  • Assisting the Manager with the development of new ideas for marketable and profitable programs for children, youth, families, adults and seniors.
  • Providing logistical planning, support & coordination. This may include preparing registrations and financial reports, attendance figures, evaluation summaries, etc.; resolving problems and referring only those that cannot be resolved independently
  • Assisting with daily departmental operations as needed (e.g. assisting with school groups and day camp programs, at touch tanks, etc.)

 Special Skills and Requirements:

  • Post-secondary education in Education or a related field is preferred. 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to maintain composure and positive customer service while under pressure
  • Demonstrated organizational and financial management skills
  • A minimum of two years’ experience in meeting and exceeding customer needs and expectations in a customer service or sales role is preferred. 
  • Passion for animals, the environment & people.
  • Proven ability to apply creative and responsive solutions to arising problems.
  • Exceptional time management skills and ability to prioritize, complete tasks and effectively meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite and office management software; experience with Siriusware or other attractions ticketing systems is preferred      

 Pay Rate: $43,160.00/annually
