Position Summary:

Rice University Transportation Office is seeking an Equipment Maintenance Technician I to perform semi-skilled maintenance, troubleshoot and diagnose issues in order to determine the correct course of action. They will perform preventative maintenance, inspect buildings regularly and address any maintenance issues immediately, along with providing documentation. In addition, this position will assist other maintenance, custodial, and crafts when needed.

Minimum Requirements: 

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • No experience is needed
  • Licenses / Certifications: Valid Texas Driver's License (or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment) required with no more than three moving violations within the past 36 months and no convictions or deferred dispositions for Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) or Driving Under the Influence (DUI) within the past three years.

  • Basic repair skills and proper use of associated tools
  • Communication skills both oral and written
  • Organizational skills

Preferences:

  • Rice University experience

Essential Functions:

  • Performs preventative maintenance
  • Troubleshoots and diagnose issues in order to determine the correct course of action
  • For more complex issues, coordinates diagnosis and repair with supervisors
  • Generates work orders if needed
  • Inspects, repairs, and cleans machinery, equipment, tools, work areas and inventory
  • Assists other Maintenance Technicians and crafts
  • Performs all other duties as assigned
