Queens College is seeking an Assistant Athletic Trainer. This is a full-time (12 month) benefit position reporting to the Director of Sports Medicine in the Department of Athletics and Recreation. The successful candidate may attend national and conference meetings; and perform other duties assigned by the Director of Sports Medicine. Duties include, but are not limited to: general healthcare assistance to 230 intercollegiate student-athletes (injury evaluations, referrals, rehabilitative treatments); provide necessary practice and game coverage for all intercollegiate teams (including travel, late nights, early mornings, weekends, holidays and during inclement weather); assist in summer camp coverage; and assist with monitoring and maintenance of the athletic training room.

As the Athletic Trainer, the candidate will assist the Director of Sports Medicine with:
Providing necessary practice and game coverage for all intercollegiate teams
Insurance tracking and documentation
Scheduling doctor visits
Assisting in the recruitment and scheduling of per diem staffers and sharing medical injuries and recovery plans with Head Coaches
Position may require attending national and conference meetings; as well as performing other duties assigned by the Director of Sports Medicine
Assist in Summer Camp Coverage
Other duties as assigned
Physical Requirements:
The individual must have the mobility to do the following activities: running, walking, sitting, climbing, balancing, kneeling, crouching or crawling
Candidates must have the ability to lift and/or move heavy items weighing up to 50 pounds on a frequent basis with or without assistance
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree (master's preferred)
BOC certification
New York State Licensure (prior to start of employment)
Current Professional Rescuer CPR/AED/First Aid certification
A valid driver's license
Working knowledge of and adherence of NCAA rules and regulations
Ability to effectively communicate with and relate to student-athletes, coaches, and athletic staff
Ability to use relevant computer software
