About this role

Regions Hospital is looking to hire an exceptional, patient focused Vascular Access Technician to join our Vascular Access team and make a difference for our patients and our community. 

Join us in a small Specialty group that is expanding! Work hard, have fun, and provide much needed care! The Technician role partners with Vascular Access nursing. In this role you will place PIVs, change peripherally inserted central catheter (PICC) dressings and assist the VAS RN with procedure as needed. The ideal candidate with have experience with US-guided PIV placement or will be trained on the job. This role will provide difficult to access lab and PIV support as needed and occasionally obtain blood samples for processing by the Lab.

Work Schedule: 0.70 Days. Every other weekend (or sometimes every 3rd weekend) rotation. 

Required Qualifications: 

Two years of applicable health care experience OR completion of a related health care training program (e.g., Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), paramedic, phlebotomist).

Practices basic critical thinking skills necessary to troubleshoot problems and do basic triaging of situations outside of the routine

Ability to independently initiate appropriate tasks of the role

Ability to follow written and verbal instructions

• CPR for the professional rescuer or BLS for healthcare providers

 

Preferred Qualifications:

High School degree or equivalent

Associate degree in Clinical Lab Science

• Previous phlebotomy experience

• Experience using an Electronic Medical Record.

• Experience with Ultrasound-guided PIV placement.
