This Design Engineering position is integral to the success of Regal Rexnord’s new product vitality and cost saving initiatives.  Support of Gear Division Operations and existing products of industrial gear drives may also be required.  The successful candidate will be required to work both independently on specific tasks and within a multi-functional will team to accomplish project goals.  Flexibility between projects priorities and timelines be required depending on daily business needs.  The engineer will provide technical guidance regarding assigned engineering projects and project management support for project schedules and coordination driven by the overall business Strategy and Operating Plan.  Engineering assignments will involve principles of design engineering, advanced gear design, vendor collaboration, coordination of design work, project management, continuous improvement, 80/20 philosophy of business, and material cost out (MCO) activities.

• Complete gear box design, components and accessories (castings, fabrications, revolving elements, shafts, coolers, backstops, etc.) meeting cost and capability targets
• Managing engineering work and priorities of the project team to align with milestones and stretch goals of project schedule (Stage Gate Process)
• Managing Team and alignment to organizational level goals of new product vitality, cost savings, product line simplification and rationalization.
• Produce/support technical documentation (catalogs, manuals, assembly instructions, etc.)
• Drawing review, approval, and release coordination
• Guides domestic and international design teams
• Writes specifications (design specifications, drafting instructions, product specifications)
• Select and integrate components into design, interaction with suppliers/vendors
• Assist manufacturing floor personnel with technical help/information
• Provide technical support to other departments
• Create test plans, monitor tests and summarize results
• Perform data analysis

A qualified candidate must have sound understanding of gear design and all engineering fundamentals with the ability to apply them to product design and development.  Must be capable of working with and leading cross-functional team with global resources.  Possesses strong mechanical aptitude with knowledge of or experience with industrial equipment or products.  Able to thrive in a fast-paced, metric driven environment to achieve goals and objectives and a desire to win. 

• BSME (Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering) from an accredited university.
• 14 to 15 years’ (minimum) experience in a mechanical engineering design position with gear design experience; preferably with industrial products.
• Working knowledge of SolidWorks and GD&T principles is required.
• Knowledge of industrial gearboxes, manufacturing processes, castings, fabrications, forgings, sheet metal parts, fittings, and fasteners gained through previous work experience.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, effectively prioritize and execute tasks with a sense of urgency and manage work of the engineering team.
• Knowledge and experience with the principles, design and application of multiple types of gearing (helical, bevel, worm, etc.)
• Strong communication skills (Verbal, Email, Messaging, and Video).
• Ability to develop and manage action plans for assigned technical projects (Project Management).
