Senior Business Analyst (Capital Markets / Risk) – SQL & Data Mapping
Strategic hybrid role in Toronto for a seasoned Business Analyst with deep expertise in financial risk and capital markets. Requires strong SQL, data mapping, and experience in Agile environments. Leverage tools like Azure Synapse and OpenAI while bridging business and technical domains in the insurance industry.

• Salaried: $45-53 per hour.
• Incorporated Business Rate: $55-63 per hour.
• 9-month contract.
• Full-time position: 37.50 hours per week.
• Weekday schedule from 9 am to 5 pm.
• In-office presence required from Tuesday to Thursday.
• Remote work available on Mondays and Fridays.
Responsibilities:
• Develop and maintain detailed data mapping and data flow diagrams to support financial risk and capital markets initiatives.
• Translate complex business requirements into actionable technical specifications and business requirement documents.
• Collaborate closely with Agile squads to deliver high-impact solutions in a dynamic environment.
• Perform advanced SQL queries for data extraction, transformation, and analysis.
• Create source-to-target mappings for data integration across systems.
• Utilize Azure Synapse and Azure OpenAI for scalable data analytics and reporting.
What you will need to succeed:
• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Finance, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Master’s degree in a relevant discipline (nice to have).
• Certifications in Agile methodologies, financial risk, or data analytics tools (nice to have).
• 5 years of experience as a Senior IT Business Analyst in Financial Services, Risk Management, or Capital Markets.
• Strong understanding of financial risk metrics and regulatory frameworks.
• Advanced proficiency in SQL, data mapping, and data flow documentation.
• Experience working in Agile delivery models.
• Proficiency with Azure Synapse and Azure OpenAI platforms.
• Demonstrated ability to produce high-quality business requirement documents.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Experience with additional cloud platforms, data visualization tools, or regulatory reporting systems (nice to have).
• Technical expertise in Azure Databricks, PySpark, and Python (nice to have).
