Are you passionate about helping others live safer, healthier and more independent lives?
Join Waythrough, one of the UK’s leading mental health and social support charities, and make a lasting impact every day.

The Hertfordshire Crisis House is a brand-new 24-hour service opening in December. It will offer individuals experiencing a mental health crisis an alternative to hospital admission — providing up to 7 days of intensive, recovery-focused support in a safe, non-clinical environment.

Working in close partnership with local crisis teams and community-based services, the Crisis House will deliver holistic, person-centred care that supports recovery, resilience, and independence.

About the Role
As a Recovery Worker, you’ll play a vital role in inspiring and supporting individuals to regain control and confidence in their lives.

You’ll work collaboratively with residents to create personalised recovery plans and help them achieve their goals — whether that’s improving daily living skills, managing finances, or accessing work, leisure, or education opportunities.

To Succeed in This Role, You’ll Need:

  • A caring, compassionate, and empathetic nature

  • Flexibility, creativity, and resilience under pressure

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills

  • A genuine passion for helping others achieve independence

No previous experience is required — full training will be provided. However, an understanding of mental health issues or lived experience would be an advantage.

You’ll need to be comfortable working independently and as part of a team, within a weekly shift rota (including some on-call duties).
