What the role is all about
As Director of Engineering, PropTrack, you are a senior technology leader responsible for shaping and delivering the engineering strategy that underpins PropTrack’s data platforms, analytics products and insights capabilities.
You will lead multiple engineering teams building and operating scalable, secure and reliable data and software platforms. Working closely with Product, Data Science, Design and Commercial leaders, you’ll ensure PropTrack can move fast, deliver high quality outcomes and continue to innovate—while maintaining the trust and reliability our customers expect.
This role balances strategic leadership, technical leadership, people leadership and delivery excellence, with a strong focus on enabling PropTrack’s growth and impact within REA Group.
What you’ll be doing:
- Define and execute the engineering strategy aligned to PropTrack and REA business goals
- Lead, coach and develop Engineering Managers and senior technical leaders
- Set the bar for engineering excellence, architecture and sustainable delivery
- Own delivery outcomes, system health, reliability and security
- Partner with Product, Data Science and Design to shape roadmaps and priorities
- Bring commercial judgement to investment, resourcing and platform decisions
- Build strong relationships with senior and executive stakeholders
Who we’re looking for
- Extensive experience leading engineering teams at scale, ideally in data‑rich or platform‑led environments
- A proven track record delivering complex, high‑impact technology products or platforms
- Strong understanding of modern software and data engineering practices
- Experience leading leaders (Engineering Managers, Principal Engineers, TPMs)
- A pragmatic, outcome‑focused leadership style with strong people development capability
- Confidence operating in ambiguity and influencing senior stakeholders
- Commercial acumen, with experience owning or influencing budgets
