Business Overview

The Global Data Strategy Supervisory Department, led by our Chief Data Officer (CDO), plays a pivotal role in the strategic use and governance of data to propel our organization's Artificial Intelligence (AI) initiatives.

Our primary mission is to develop and implement comprehensive data strategies that enable our organization to fully leverage the power of AI. We understand the transformative potential of AI, and we are committed to ensuring that our data infrastructure, policies, and procedures are optimally designed to support AI-driven solutions.

 

Department Overview

The Global CDO Office takes a leadership role responsible for the strategic planning and management of all data-related projects across the Rakuten group companies. This organization will develop, implement, and oversee data strategies, ensuring that data initiatives are effectively aligned with the company's business objectives and deliver value.

Data Biz & Governance Strategy Section is dedicated to the strategic planning and oversight of group-wide data business and governance initiatives.

Our team's main objective is to ensure that our company's data is appropriately managed and leveraged to support business growth, while adhering to the highest standards of data governance. We work collaboratively across all departments to promote group -wide data utilization and compliance.

Position Details

The successful candidate will take an active role in developing data strategies and improving data utilization conditions. They will also design and implement management control indicators and reports. The role involves comprehensive responsibilities, from strategic planning to project execution management.


Key Responsibilities:

- Develop and implement data strategies that align with the organization's objectives, ensuring that data initiatives deliver value and support business growth.

- Work on improving data utilization conditions by identifying areas of improvement and implementing appropriate solutions.

- Design and implement management control indicators and reports to provide insights and aid decision-making.

- Oversee data governance initiatives, ensuring that data is managed according to the highest standards of quality, security, and compliance.

- Manage data-related projects, from initial planning and execution to monitoring and evaluation and reporting to executives, ensuring they deliver the desired outcomes.

- Collaborate with various stakeholders across the organization to promote advanced data use-case and drive the more efficient and compliant data utilization process.

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex data concepts to a variety of stakeholders.

- Proficiency in both Japanese and English, and the ability to communicate patiently and effectively with multi-background stakeholders is expected.

- Ability to prepare and present effective PowerPoint presentations to senior-level management.

Mandatory Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, Business Administration or a related field or the Master degree is preferable.

- Proven experience in business or data strategy development, data governance, and project management.

- Business or IT consulting experience is preferable.

- Strong understanding of data management principles and strategies, including data governance, data quality, data integration, and data analytics is preferable.

- Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to make strategic decisions based on data analysis.

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex data concepts to a variety of stakeholders.

Desired Qualifications: 

- Familiarity with relevant data laws and regulations is preferable.

- Proficient in various data technologies and systems is preferable.
