Department Overview

Corporate Communications Department

As a communications specialist, you can be involved in every aspect of the Rakuten Group's challenge to reach a new stage in its development, such as realizing more convenient and reasonable mobile communications and providing new shopping experiences that transcend the boundaries between the Internet and the real world through collaboration with various partners.

Corporate PR

Members of this section can be involved in the Rakuten Group's growth strategy and branding by disseminating information on announcements related to the core of the Group, such as financial results, human resources, general affairs, corporate culture, and investment.

Service PR

Members of this section will gain a wide range of experience through implementing and leading public relations activities for a dynamic ecosystem of more than 70 services, and conducting various kinds of unique Rakuten Group measures such as the Rakuten Ecosystem and Rakuten Points, connecting various Rakuten services through coordinated initiatives.

Strategic Business PR Support

Members of this section play an important role in accelerating the growth of the Mobile business, driving the further growth of the Rakuten Group by supporting the public relations activities for the Mobile business’s corporate activities, cutting-edge technology and network area.

PR Planning

Members of this section can be involved in formulating and implementing public relations strategies for new businesses and Group-wide public relations matters that have an impact on multiple Group companies. In addition, they can work on establishing a management framework for the entire Rakuten Group to enhance cooperation between each organization and improve each organization’s public relations activities.

We are looking for people who can work in service PR, which aims to improve service brands in a variety of industries and domains, from small to large scale; in corporate PR, which aims to improve corporate brands in group-wide fields; and in Strategic Business PR support, which promotes the expansion of the mobile business; and in PR Planning, which promotes the launch of new businesses and enhance cooperation between each organization related to public relations.

 

Position Details

The following is a list of common tasks for all sections

- Plan and execute of PR strategies

- Plan and manage press conferences and press events

- Write press releases and newsletters and distribute them

- Build a wide range of media relations, from key stations to local media nationwide

- Respond to media inquiries and interviews, and communicate with relevant executives

- Monitor media appearances, clipping, and negotiation

- Dispatch information through owned media

*The job you will be involved will be decided in consideration of your qualification and preferences.

Mandatory Qualifications:

- At least 5 years of working experience

- At least 3 years of experience in public relations/PR at a business company or consulting at a public relations agency

- Experience in planning, writing, editing, and distributing press releases and newsletters in Japanese

- Experience in planning, facilitating and managing press conferences and press events, and media relations

- Good communication skills in Japanese

- Business level English

- Ability to gather information and report in English

Desired Qualifications:

- Experience in planning and implementing public relations strategies

- Experience in managing a public relations agency (or experience in working for a public relations agency)

- Experience in creating press materials

- Experience in handling financial results/Investor Relations

- Experience in crisis communications

- Experience in managing social media

- Experience in managing advertisement

- Experience in creating lecture presentations for executive (PowerPoint, Keynote)

- Interest in the Internet, mobile business and social media

- Experience in organizational management (Budget management/Human resource development/Setting operational policies)

- Good communication skills
