Department Overview
Netsuper market & How Rakuten zenkokusuper Helps
About "Rakuten zenkokusuper":
This service was launched in January 2022 as a platform enabling supermarkets across Japan to operate their own online supermarkets. It can be envisioned as a "Rakuten Ichiba for Supermarkets." Leading major supermarkets in Japan, such as Seiyu, Beisia, and Inageya, along with other well-known and influential local supermarkets, have signed agreements to open stores and are expanding their online supermarket businesses. The number of participating supermarkets is expected to grow further. Our service involves supporting these companies in launching and expanding their online supermarket operations, as well as providing hands-on assistance to achieve early profitability.
A Booming Market:
The online supermarket market continues to experience double-digit year-on-year growth, and it is projected to sustain high growth in the future. This trend is driven by continuously increasing market needs, stemming from factors such as the aging customer base of physical supermarkets and the rise in dual-income households.
Our Mission & Impact:
Our mission is to empower local retailers and consumers through digital innovation. By making essential food shopping easier and richer, we directly improve daily life. Since supermarkets are vital to local economies, our support also fosters regional revitalization, making our work highly socially impactful.
Initiatives for OMO Promotion:
In 2024, we released the Rakuten Zenkokusuper app. This application serves as a sales platform that facilitates OMO (Online Merges with Offline) by allowing users to access both online supermarket and physical store services within a single app, simply by switching tabs. Given that current supermarket needs also lie in this OMO domain, our efforts in this area represent another significant contribution we can make.
Position:
