Intro

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Executive Office Business Manager based in our London office (hybrid working). This role will be a Direct Report to the CEO and be an attendee of the Railpen Executive Committee (ExCom).

The Role

This is a unique opportunity to shape the role around your own strengths and ways of working. There is no fixed blueprint — we are looking for someone who will bring their own style and be eager to make the role their own. The purpose of the role is to support the Chief Executive and the wider Executive Committee in the day-to-day and strategic management of Railpen. This will include owning and driving forward Chief Executive sponsored change projects as required, working closely with colleagues in Change & Transformation and other functions to ensure successful delivery.

You will work in close collaboration with the EA to the Chief Executive providing support and insight to enable seamless service to the Chief Executive. This role is an excellent career development opportunity and a possible stepping-stone to a future senior-leadership position within Railpen.

The Person

You will have a good understanding of Railpen’s organisation; our business units, functions and governance structures and have the ability to ‘join the dots’ and think strategically across Railpen. You will have experience preparing a variety of regular and ad hoc reports to a high standard within tight timeframes. Experience of project planning, building relationships, engaging in strategic conversations and delivering against a business plan are also important.

The successful candidate will be somebody who will be approachable and can support across very diverse business disciplines, embrace complexity and has excellent skills in delivering clear communication. You will have excellent initiative and be a proactive thinker, as well as having the courage to have a view on difficult business decisions. An ability to influence and secure ‘buy-in’ amongst colleagues across all levels of the organisation is key to this role as is having a commercial and strategic mind-set to be able to oversee the successful delivery of key business initiatives..
