About this role

At R2, we believe that small and medium businesses are the productive engine of society. Small and medium businesses (SMBs) make up over 90% of companies in Latin America, yet they face a trillion-dollar credit gap. Our mission is to unlock SMBs’ potential by providing financial solutions that are tailored to their needs. We are reimagining the financial infrastructure of Latin America - where SMBs financial needs are satisfied without ever having to go to a bank.

R2 enables platforms in Latin America to embed financial services that SMBs can then leverage (starting with revenue-based financing). We are a tight-knit team coming from organizations such as Google, Amazon, Nubank, Uber, Capital One, Mercado Libre, Globant, J.P. Morgan. We are entering a new phase of growth following a strategic investment from Ant International, focused on rapidly expanding our partner footprint, strengthening our credit and underwriting capabilities, and scaling our operations across multiple markets.

The Principal Product Manager is a senior individual contributor responsible for owning complex product areas end-to-end, driving measurable business outcomes, and partnering closely with Engineering, Data, Risk, and Commercial teams. This role operates with high autonomy and is expected to influence strategy while remaining deeply hands-on in execution.

This position is ideal for a product leader who thrives in fintech environments, understands credit, payments, or financial infrastructure, and can translate ambiguous problems into scalable product solutions for Brazil and many LATAM markets.

Key Responsibilities

Product Strategy & Domain Ownership

  • Own a core product domain (e.g., Credit, Risk, Payments, Core Platform, or Partner Integrations) with clear accountability for customer, business, and operational outcomes.

  • Define and evolve a multi-quarter product strategy and roadmap aligned with company objectives, regulatory requirements, and scalability constraints in Brazil.

  • Identify and size opportunities for growth, efficiency, and risk reduction using market insights, customer data, and competitive analysis.

  • Manage and deepen technical and product relationships with external partners (e.g., bureaus, payment networks, data providers, lenders), from evaluation through launch and optimization.

Execution & Delivery Excellence

  • Lead end-to-end product discovery and delivery, from problem framing and solution design through rollout and post-launch optimization.

  • Produce clear, high-quality product artifacts (PRDs, user stories, acceptance criteria) that enable autonomous and efficient execution by Engineering.

  • Own prioritization decisions, balancing customer value, risk, regulatory constraints, and business impact.

  • Partner closely with Engineering leadership to ensure predictable delivery, technical quality, and long-term platform health.

Data-Driven Decision Making

  • Define success metrics and KPIs for the product domain (e.g., activation, conversion, loss rates, approval rates, fraud, unit economics, operational efficiency).

  • Use data, experimentation, and customer feedback to inform decisions and continuously improve product performance.

  • Collaborate with Data, Risk, and Analytics teams to ensure robust measurement, monitoring, and feedback loops.

Cross-Functional Leadership & Influence

  • Act as a strategic partner to Engineering, Risk, Data, Operations, Legal/Compliance, and Commercial teams.

  • Drive alignment across stakeholders with differing incentives and constraints, influencing decisions without formal authority.

  • Clearly communicate product vision, trade-offs, risks, and progress to senior leadership and executives.

Customer, Market & Regulatory Focus

  • Develop deep expertise in Brazilian customer needs, behaviors, and pain points across relevant segments.

  • Incorporate Brazilian regulatory, operational, and cultural nuances into product design and decision-making.

  • Engage directly with customers, partners, and internal teams to validate assumptions and solutions when needed.

Experience & Qualifications

Required

  • 10+ years of experience in Product Management, with significant experience in fintech, financial services, or financial infrastructure.

  • Demonstrated ownership of complex, high-impact products in regulated environments.

  • Strong experience working with Engineering, Data, and Risk teams on technically sophisticated systems.

  • Proven ability to operate autonomously, make high-stakes decisions, and be accountable for outcomes.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and Portuguese.

  • Strong analytical, structured thinking, and problem-solving capabilities.

  • Comfortable operating in ambiguous, fast-changing environments with incomplete information.

Strongly Preferred

  • Deep experience in the Brazilian and/or broader LATAM fintech ecosystem.

  • Exposure to credit products, underwriting, risk decisioning, fraud, or collections platforms.

  • Experience with B2B, platform, or API-driven products.

  • Track record of influencing product strategy beyond immediate team or domain.
