We’re looking for our next Director, Financial Planning & Analysis. Could It Be You?

The Director, FP&A is responsible for providing proactive, insightful financial and business analysis to enable the business to reach its short- and long-term strategic and financial objectives. The purpose of the role is two-fold:

• Corporate FP&A Leadership: The Director, FP&A contributes to the success of Questrade Financial Group by leading the budget, target setting management reporting, and financial analysis functions for the organization, while partnering with senior leadership and the Board to provide corporate financial information in an expedient, concise, and meaningful manner.

• Enterprise Shared Services Finance Business Partnering: This role will also oversee the delivery FP&A processes for QFG’s Enterprise Shared Services business that includes all shared services functions and COE’s, including in-year forecasting, budgeting, management reporting, and business decision support.

Leading a team of 4 and working under the direction of the Managing Director, Financial Planning & Analysis, the incumbent will be instrumental in balancing time and effort between the two focus areas.

In this role, responsibilities include but are not limited to: 

Corporate FP&A Leadership:

• Acting as a business process owner for the annual budgeting, target setting, management reporting, and financial analysis processes QFG-wide.

• Managing consolidation of targets, budgets, and management financials.

• Collaborating with Finance Business Partners across the businesses to review, challenge, and finalize the targets and budgets.

• Leading monthly review of the consolidated management results, including coordination of inputs from all QFG businesses, analysis of consolidated results, and insights to help ensure the company remains on-track to achieve budgets and strategic goals.

• Leading enterprise-wide initiatives requiring involvement from multiple businesses. E.g., reorganizations requiring significant changes to master data structures and FP&A processes, cost reductions, productivity assessments, etc.

• Preparing communications and presentation materials for QFG President, QFG CFO, and the Board as required.

Enterprise Shared Services Finance Business Partnering:

• Managing preparation of targets, annual budgets, and financial forecasts.

• Leading monthly and quarterly operating results analysis and reporting.

• Developing and presenting slide decks to business and finance leaders for the communication of analysis, budgets, forecasts, and financial results.

• Leading preparation and tracking of business cases for new initiatives and products.

• Identifying, planning and implementing continuous improvement initiatives within FP&A.

• Motivating, developing and managing work and performance of direct reports.

• Hold a degree or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or related field 

• Hold a relevant professional designation or equivalent (CPA, CFA or MBA)

• Have 5+ years of experience in a similar role

• Have 5+ years of experience in a leadership position

• Possess advanced proficiency in Excel

• Have demonstrated ability to translate business models and initiatives into quantitative models

• Have high proficiency in turning data into insights and recommended actions 

• Are in possessions of superior collaboration and stakeholder management skills that help build consensus and focus teams on common goals

• Have excellent communication skills (verbal and written), including  with senior leadership

• Are comfortable in fast-paced dynamic business environments that require effective management of conflicting demands and competing priorities

• Are proactive and results-driven

• Are a strong team player who inspires others and models a growth mindset

Additional kudos if you…

• Have experience in Controllership / Financial Reporting

• Have experience in the financial / investment industry

• Have NetSuite, Oracle EPBCS, and Google Suite experience
