This is an onsite position, 5 days/week, in the Vadodara office. Remote applicants will not be considered. 

Summary of the Staff Scrum Master

The person in this role will act as Scrum Master for 2-3 teams and will promote Agile development practices and work across multiple stakeholders to identify and remove impediments.  We need Scrum Masters with a strong vision for creating the best workplace possible. The ideal candidate will be passionate about getting the best out of individuals and teams through the power of self-organization. 

Responsibilities for the Staff Scrum Master

  • Serve as subject matter expert on software development methods and processes

  • Enable the Scrum teams to perform at the highest level by instilling Scrum values, coaching the team, removing impediments, and protecting the team from disruption

  • Organize and facilitate team backlog management, daily scrum (standups), sprint reviews, retrospectives, demos, and other Scrum-related events

  • Monitor, record, and communicate assigned team(s) KPIs/Metrics and ensure transparency regarding team achievements across internal stakeholders

  • Identify and communicate impediments to team achievement to leadership while working to remove any barriers to deliver on committed work

  • Assist Product Owner as needed with backlog maintenance, internal and external communication, improving transparency, and disseminating information

  • Share Agile knowledge and best practices across the organization to maximize Scrum team performance and effectiveness

  • Coach teams, individuals, and the organization in collaboration, transparency, iteration and be customer focused

  • Create high-performing, self-organized teams that can’t wait to get to work each day

  • Challenge assumptions about how we work together and how we develop our product and collaborate with us to find a better way

  • Build consensus through collaboration and influences without authority

Qualifications of the Staff Scrum Master     

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management of Information Systems, or equivalent 

  • 3+ years of working on a scrum team as a contributor (Developer, Product Owner, QA Engineer)

  • 2 years as a Scrum Master

  • Experience in coaching an organization at any level through the transition from waterfall to an agile framework

  • Experience working in an environment where an agile framework was applied at scale

  • Experience in a variety of Software Development Life Cycles (waterfall, iterative and agile)

  • Attainment of one or more agile-related, scrum master focused certifications: 

    • Scrum Alliance: Certified Scrum Master (CSM), Advanced CSM, Certified Scrum Professional (CSP-SM)

    • Professional Scrum Master (PSM I-III)

    • Certified Scrum Coach (CSC), PMI Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP)

  • Experience with Atlassian tools, including JIRA and Confluence, preferred

  • Experience with Microsoft Azure DevOps, preferred

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities of the Staff Scrum Master

  • Proficiency in Agile methods, including Scrum and Kanban

  • Comfortable with the implementation and execution of Scrum in an environment where individuals are unfamiliar or uncomfortable with the methodology.

  • Able to apply various techniques to ensure effective meetings both co-located and distributed

  • Strong leadership skills and a history of leading through influence. 

  • Ability to work with diverse personality types.

  • Collaborative approach to decision-making on teams.

  • Ability to work under limited supervision.

  • Ability to help existing leadership understand their changing role
