The Role
As an Associate Scientist, you will support the development of advanced radar and signal processing technologies that directly enhance UK Defence capability.

 

Day-to-day, you’ll contribute to research, modelling and simulation activities, applying scientific and analytical techniques to solve complex technical problems, develop algorithms, analyse real-world data and support innovative solutions across radar and signal processing programmes

Your responsibilities will include:
• Developing and optimising models and simulations for radar and signal processing applications
• Applying scientific and mathematical methods to analyse data and interpret results
• Designing and assessing algorithms and waveform concepts
• Supporting research and development activities across multi-disciplinary projects
• Documenting technical findings and presenting results to a range of audiences

 

Essential experience of the Associate Scientist:
• Strong scientific and analytical background in physics mathematics or related disciplines
• Experience applying modelling simulation or data analysis techniques
• Coding experience in MATLAB Python C++ or similar
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
• Strong problem solving and critical thinking capability
• Clear communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences

 

Essential qualifications for the Associate Scientist:

• Bachelor’s degree in Physics Maths or a related STEM subject or equivalent experience

This role is 37 hours per week based at Portsdown Technology Park in Portsmouth. Hybrid working patterns are available.
