QDI is the worldwide leader in software solutions for multi-omic data analysis and interpretation.  We are expanding our team of account managers responsible for helping to grow our business with academic and government research customers.

The Key Account Manager, Academic and Government, Southeast will lead activities to identify and drive opportunities to increase the use of QIAGEN Digital Insights technologies, products, and services at academic and government labs in the mid Atlantic and southeastern united states. This role involves expanding your professional network within new and existing accounts to identify key contacts; Identifying critical issues and proposing software and service solutions; Working closely with other members of the QDI team to pursue sales opportunities, both new and renewal.

•  Develop a robust understanding of QDI’s portfolio, including Ingenuity Pathway Analysis, CLCbio, OmicSoft, HGMD, and COSMIC. Continue learning as our portfolio expands.

•  Prospect and lead establishment of direct access to QDI service, data, and software solutions in support of genomics secondary and tertiary analysis at primarily government research institutions in the defined geography.

•   Lead negotiation of renewals and expansion of software license agreements. Expand our footprint at existing accounts through hosted trainings, relationship building, and effective alignment of QDI solutions with customer’s research needs.

•   Establish and grow relationships at all levels of customer organizations, including bioinformatics scientists, PIs, Deans, section Chiefs, and more.

•   Understand and effectively engage a wide range of internal and external functional areas including Legal, IP, Finance, R&D, Regulatory Affairs, Operations, Sales & Marketing, to develop and maintain effective customer relationships.

•   Work collaboratively with your inside sales and field applications partners to develop strategies for new account acquisition and existing account growth. Coach your partners to ensure the team functions smoothly for maximum success.

Your Profile

We are looking for a sales professional with a strong background in government and academic bioinformatics research.

The ideal candidate will have:

•  Life sciences degree preferred

•  Experience in government and academic omics research environment, with an understanding of next generation sequencing workflow data analysis pipelines and tertiary pathway analysis.

•   Skilled in scoping the needs of research customers and pitching creative analysis and service solutions to accelerate their work.

•    Deep customer relationships in the academic and government space in the Mid-Atlantic and Southeastern United States.

•   High attention to detail with the ability to handle a large volume of renewal and new business opportunities and prioritize time investment to maximize return.

•  Minimum of 5 years of experience and success selling software and/or genomics solutions.

•  Active listening capabilities to gain complete and clear information from clients and to help build rapport.

•  Strength in driving and executing on sales strategies as a self-motivated, quick-learning, and high business-acumen rep.

•   Residency must be in the Southeast/Mid-Atlantic region with a strong preference for Washington DC or the Research Triangle areas.

•   This position is a remote sales position, primarily working from home.

•   Travel is estimated at 35% but is not limited as such.

The estimated base salary and commission range for this position is $180,000 - $215,000. Compensation will be based on the candidate’s experience, skills, geographic location, and other job-related factors. In addition to base salary, we offer generous benefits.
