The opportunity

As the Senior Manager, Compliance Advice Breaches you will be responsible for managing QBE AUSPAC’s breach reporting processes. Reporting to the Head of Regulatory Breach Reporting & Financial Crime, this role ensures the effective identification, assessment, escalation, and reporting of regulatory breaches within statutory timelines. The Senior Manager will drive operational excellence, maintain robust compliance controls, and foster a culture of integrity and continuous improvement across the team. The role requires strong leadership and stakeholder engagement, technical expertise in regulatory obligations, and the ability to translate compliance strategy into actionable deliverables.

Your new role

  • Oversee day-to-day breach management processes, including identification, investigation, escalation, and reporting to regulators.

  • Support the development and implementation of breach reporting frameworks, policies, and systems in alignment with QBE’s compliance strategy.

  • Lead the Compliance Breaches team and the breach determination process and provide operational guidance to the team.

  • Maintain and update policies, procedures, and controls for breach management.

  • Prepare high-quality compliance reporting for senior management, Board and regulatory bodies.

  • Ensure effective capture and documentation of reportable events in relevant registers.

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including Risk and Compliance colleagues, to support Line 1 and Line 2 activities.

  • Represent the team in relevant forums and working groups, advocating for best practice compliance management.

  • Support the roll-out and maintenance of compliance-related technology and process improvements, including automation.

  • Coach and develop team members, fostering a culture of accountability, performance, and continuous learning.

  • Manage competing priorities and drive timely resolution of compliance issues.

About you

To be successful for the Senior Manager, Compliance Advice role you will have extensive senior experience in compliance and breach reporting within financial services (insurance experience desirable)

You will also have:

  • Strong knowledge of Australian regulatory frameworks (ASIC, CGC, APRA, OAIC) and relevant global standards, with experience managing breach reporting across financial services, prudential, privacy, and data protection laws.

  • Proven track record in building and implementing compliance programs and leveraging compliance technology, transaction monitoring, and data analytics.

  • Highly developed analytical, problem‑solving, project management, communication, and influencing skills, with the ability to engage senior stakeholders and regulators effectively.

  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously in fast‑paced environments, make sound decisions, meet deadlines, and translate regulatory requirements into practical, commercially aware business solutions.

  • Experienced people leader with a focus on coaching and developing talent; holds a relevant bachelor’s degree (Law, Commerce, Finance, Risk, or related), with postgraduate or professional qualifications (desirable).
