The Opportunity 

You’ll help shape a growing analytics function by building decisioning and measurement foundations that improve how we underwrite, support pricing strategy, and manage portfolio performance over time - with an initial focus on an automated underwriting and referral engine.

Your new role 

Working closely with the Analytics Lead, you’ll help set the direction for the analytics function while delivering high-quality work end-to-end. This includes identifying use cases, building reusable analytics assets, and embedding an analytical mindset into decision making across the business. 

You will be responsible for: 

  • Shaping and delivering prioritised analytical use cases across underwriting, distribution, pricing, claims and portfolio performance (from problem framing through to implementation). 

  • Building predictive models and decisioning logic to support the business. 

  • Supporting continuous improvement of analytical capabilities, including defining performance metrics, monitoring, and feedback loops to improve outcomes over time. 
  • Exploring, formulating, and improving datasets required to measure and explain business performance and inform strategic decisions.  
  • Communicating decision-ready insights clearly to technical and non-technical audiences, including senior leaders. 
  • Uplifting analytics ways of working, including governance, documentation, versioning, and reproducibility in line with internal and regulatory expectations.

About you 

You bring strong actuarial capability, curiosity, and the ability to translate data into meaningful, measurable outcomes. You enjoy building new capability in ambiguous environments and can move between hands-on analysis and stakeholder engagement as needed. 

You’ll have: 

  • Actuarial qualification (Associate level or higher) or equivalent combination of education with experience in general insurance (commercial lines exposure advantageous). 
  • Experience delivering analytics that influences underwriting, pricing, claims, or portfolio decisions. 
  • Ability to work with large structured datasets and to combine multiple data sources to create business-meaningful views. 
  • Skills in tools such as SQL, Python and/or R (experience with modern development practices such as Git is advantageous). 
  • Confidence presenting complex concepts in a clear and engaging way. 
  • A track record of building or improving analytical solutions and processes that deliver measurable business outcomes. 
  • A forward-thinking, practical mindset - focused on building, testing, and iterating rather than producing analysis for its own sake.
