About this role

Primary Purpose of the Job

The ideal candidate should have a profound understanding of the upstream and downstream sectors in the Oil & Gas industry, with a focus in Subsurface Geoscience & Reservoir, software applications, and industry standards. They must also possess strong vendor management capabilities. As the system owner, the selected candidate will be responsible for managing the related applications, systems and platforms.

 

A crucial aspect of their role involves expertly overseeing the entire project lifecycle, from requirements conversion and solutioning to contract management, procurement, design, system implementation, delivery, and ongoing support. Their primary focus will be ensuring continuous availability and business continuity of deployed IT solutions & services through regular maintenance, effective incident management, security & vulnerability management, and proactive risk assessments, thus ensuring elevated levels of maintenance and end-user satisfaction within the organization.


Required Experience and Skills

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science/Engineering/Petroleum or equivalent
  • Possession of a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent is preferred.

Technical certifications in areas such as Cloud, enterprise architecture, ITIL, etc. are advantageous.


Educational Qualifications

  • Minimum 9 years of progressive and directly related experience.
  • Proven experience in supporting subsurface applications & systems is a must
  • Experience in Geoscience/Reservoir Engineering software suites such as DecisionSpace, Petrel, Interactive Petrophysics, Echelon, Intersect, etc.
  • Experience in managing HPC clusters, job schedulers, and parallel filesystems
  • Manage and execute multiple high value projects (full project life cycle) related to delivery of IT solutions for the oil & gas industry through contracts and/or internal resources, on time and within budget. For example, implementation and delivery of solutions for Geoscience/Reservoir Modeling, HPC, OSDU platform, etc.
  • Domain knowledge in Subsurface, particularly Geoscience & Reservoir is a plus.
  • Ensure high systems’ performance via proper monitoring and analyses
  • Analyze business need and advise the best digital solution/software   
  • Experienced in managing and executing multiple high value ICT projects, through procurement procedures such as RFP/RFQ development, tendering, vendor negotiations and contracts management, and deliver it on time and within budget.
  • Excellent problem solving, persuasion, negotiation, and strong analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-pace environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills with the ability to communicate concepts as appropriate to customers, contractors, and staff
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage and communicate with a multi-cultural and multi-national workforce.

Keep abreast of current technology trends through research and on-going interaction with local, regional and international software providers and other Energy Companies, in order to ensure that the application software used remain current and in line with international trends.
