About this role

We are recruiting for Licensed Aircraft Engineer Level I - Cabin Workshop (Drafting & Lamination)

Licensed Aircraft Engineer Level I is responsible to deliver aircraft Maintenance activities to directly support flight operations maintenance checks and duties within their authority as a Licensed Aircraft Engineer. To provide specialized knowledge skills and expertise and require ensuring safe, effective and efficient operation.

Specific responsibilities of the role include:

Operational

  • Plans assigned activities in an effective and efficient manner, operate equipment or use tooling relative to assigned tasks within framework of Qatar Airways procedures.
  • Reviews work procedures, standards and proposes improvements where procedures are not appropriate to ensure work processes are effective.
  • Responsible for the final release of work accomplished by the Mechanics. Ensure tasks are performed to meet company standard and target such as dispatch reliability and level of acceptable deferred defects.
  • Ensures delivery standard of QR products are met. Aircraft maintenance tasks are accomplished in accordance with laid down policies and procedures. Provide satisfactory support to internal and external customers.
  • Implements solutions to technical problems within his range of his authority, and ensure that aircrafts or components serviceability standards are maintained to meet schedule requirements.
  • Provides guidance and or on the job training to the Technicians and Aircraft Mechanics reporting to this position.
  • When supervising the wok of others, ensuring that acceptable standard of workmanship and quality are maintained and the correct tools are employed to accomplish the task.
  • Performs other department duties related to his/her position as directed by the Head of the Department.

Additional Accountabilities

  • To participate on a new Aircrafts definition and production selection along with the rest of the airline stakeholders.
  • Participate on Product and work scope definition and development through Initial Technical Coordination Meeting (ITCM), Preliminary Design Review (PDR) and Critical Design Review (CDR) with involved suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • To participate with Aircrafts Program Team in the creation Product Specification Document (PSD) or/and the Quality Criteria Documents (QCD) that meets or exceeds the desired Qatar Airways requirements.
  • Participate on the inspections of product/systems mock-ups or demonstration units at supplier facilities or trade shows. Similarly, all relevant mock-ups or demonstration units that need to be shown for review.
  • Verification of product realization through inspection of first article production with relevant stakeholders (FAI).
  • Participation in aircraft pre-definition exercises through trade study meetings, conferences, symposiums etc. with OEMs, suppliers and other operators.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to Aircraft program team to solve quality issues


The successful candidate will have the following skills and qualifications:

  • Diploma in Aircraft Maintenance or Trade or vocational aircraft maintenance qualification or Degree (B.Eng., BSc)
  • or equivalent in aircraft engineering
  • Holds minimum 1 full QR main fleet ICAO/QCAA license and approvals
  • Internal staff - Minimum of 1 year job related aircraft certifying experience as EN.00.
