Nurse Manager (RN) – Inpatient Detox & Rehabilitation
Location: Pyramid Healthcare – Newport News, VA
Schedule: Full-Time | On-Call Rotation Required
Compensation: Competitive, commensurate with experience
At Pyramid Healthcare – Newport News, we provide structured, client-centered treatment for adults with Substance Use Disorders in a supportive residential setting. As a leader in addiction recovery, we deliver evidence-based, compassionate care driven by a collaborative clinical and leadership team.
We are seeking a Registered Nurse Manager to lead our nursing department and ensure high-quality, safe, and dignified care for individuals working toward sobriety and wellness.
No ADLs — Clients are fully independent in personal care
No IVs, ports, catheters, or blood draws — Managed by external providers
Minimal physical strain — No lifting or prolonged standing
Paperless workflow — eMAR system in use
Collaborative environment — Integrated with medical + behavioral health teams
Provide clinical leadership, oversight, and support to nursing staff
Identify and manage care for high-risk clients in detox and residential levels of care
Ensure bed board accuracy and coordinate with Admissions
Support detox protocols and prior authorization processes
Lead shift management and assist with staff scheduling
Review and approve MARs, labs, and physician orders
Coordinate pharmacy needs and manage sample medications
Maintain infection control standards and oversee HCG testing protocols
Address client grievances professionally and collaboratively
Partner with the Director of Nursing on staff coaching and performance matters
Participate in treatment team meetings, unit meetings, and risk management reviews
Administer medications, complete assessments, and support physician care as needed
Serve on-call and provide direct nursing coverage when necessary
Active Virginia Registered Nurse (RN) license (required)
Prior supervisory or charge nurse experience (preferred)
Experience with detox protocols, medication management, and documentation best practices
Familiarity with state regulatory standards for residential SUD treatment
