About this role

Director, Contentious Valuations (Private Wealth Disputes)

About the role:

We are seeking an experienced and commercially minded Director to join our growing contentious valuations practice. This role offers a unique opportunity to lead complex valuation engagements within the private wealth disputes market — including matrimonial, trust and private wealth disputes.

You will bring deep business and share valuation expertise, exceptional report-writing skills, and the ability to engage confidently with clients, lawyers and other advisors. This role has a significant business development component. You will be a visible presence in the London private wealth legal and intermediary market, attending events, nurturing relationships and  driving a clear go-to-market strategy.

We welcome candidates from valuations, forensic accounting and disputes backgrounds, as well as experienced lawyers seeking a career transition into expert witness and contentious valuations work.

What your days will look like:

  • Lead valuations for contentious private wealth matters, providing robust, independent advice to support clients navigate complex processes where business and share valuation is a core element of the dispute.

  • Lead teams to prepare detailed valuation analysis, and expert advisor and expert witness reports ready for Partner review and to a standard that is suitable for submission to the Court.

  • Work closely and collaboratively with clients, lawyers, counsel and other advisors as the matter requires.

  • Mentor, develop, and motivate junior staff, fostering a high-performance and quality-driven culture.

  • Develop and lead a structured business development strategy to grow PwC’s presence in the contentious valuations market.

  • Attend regular London-based events and networking sessions (often morning or evening) to build and maintain a strong personal and team market profile.

  • Collaborate across industry sector experts and other experts within PwC (e.g. tax, data and analytics) to deliver a broad range of contentious engagements across sectors.

  • Contribute to the evolution of our valuation methodology, use of technology and adoption of AI tools to drive efficiency, quality and new services.

The role is for you if:

  • You have Director experience in valuations, forensic accounting, disputes or related and complimentary professional services roles.

  • Strong track record in business and share valuations for private wealth disputes.

  • High-quality report-writing skills, including the preparation or reviews of expert witness reports.

  • Curiosity and intellectual agility to handle and thrive in complex and multi-stakeholder matters.

  • Experience of working with lawyers and tax advisors on contentious matters.

  • Confidence in building relationships, including in networking environments.

  • Ability to shape and execute a go-to-market strategy.

  • A proactive driver with strong commercial instincts and enthusiasm for growing a specialist practice.

  • Positive, energetic, and committed to exceptional quality.

  • Passionate about building and maintaining relationships both in the market and internally.

  • Organised, structured, and disciplined in managing multiple priorities.

  • Comfortable working flexibly, including regular London attendance at networking events and occasional overseas travel.

What you’ll receive from us:

No matter where you may be in your career or personal life, our benefits are designed to add value and support, recognising and rewarding you fairly for your contributions.

We offer a range of benefits including empowered flexibility and a working week split between office, home and client site; private medical cover and 24/7 access to a qualified virtual GP; six volunteering days a year and much more.
