Heartline Staffing, strategic talent partners with Purple Cow Recruiting, is seeking an experienced Director of Surgical Services to lead and oversee a comprehensive perioperative service line within an acute care hospital environment.
The Director of Surgical Services is responsible for the overall operational, clinical, and financial performance of Surgical Services, including operating rooms and perioperative departments. This leader ensures the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
This role provides strategic oversight of surgical operations, staffing, budgeting, and forecasting, while ensuring compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and safety standards. The Director partners closely with executive leadership to implement evidence-based practices, improve efficiency, and support growth across multiple surgical specialties.
Surgical services include a high-volume operating room environment supporting complex procedures such as spine, neuro, open heart, vascular, general surgery, robotics, colorectal, and gastrointestinal services.
Schedule:
Full-time leadership role
Primarily day schedule with executive responsibilities
Compensation:
Base salary range from $107,723 to $161,574 annually, depending on experience.
Eligible for a Director-level annual bonus of approximately 17.5%, with up to 150% upside based on performance.
Relocation assistance is available.
Requirements
Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years Director-level Surgical Services experience in an acute care hospital
- Proven leadership of perioperative departments including OR, Pre-Op, PACU, Endoscopy, SPD, and PAT Clinic
- Demonstrated accountability for operational performance, staffing, budgeting, and forecasting
Education:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required
Leadership & Operational Expertise:
- Experience managing high-acuity, multi-specialty surgical environments
- Strong knowledge of regulatory, accreditation, and compliance standards
- Ability to implement evidence-based practices to improve quality, safety, and efficiency
- Effective leadership style that promotes transparency, accountability, and collaboration
