About this role

[What the role is]

Role overview: You will be responsible to support the development and implementation of the SkillsFuture Mid-Career Training Allowance (TA), a strategic national initiative aimed at enhancing support for mid-career workers to upskill and reskill to stay competitive and relevant amidst a rapidly changing economy. This is a key role that combines policy development, programme management and stakeholder engagement.

You will be working closely with key stakeholders across the Whole-of-Government to ensure alignment of policies, product strategy, implementation and strategic communications in line with the overall national agenda. You will connect issues with larger systems which include industry/training partners and identify inter-dependencies across workstreams to achieve collective outcomes. You will also lead secretariat duties, including tracking and reporting of programme outcomes.

[What you will be working on]

Role and responsibilities:

  • Policy development and programme management
  • Support the conceptualisation and finetuning of policy and programme parameters
  • Convert policies into customer-centric solutions for the TA initiative
  • Develop and maintain robust monitoring frameworks to track programme effectiveness and outcomes
  • Manage budget planning

  • Stakeholder management and communication
  • Build and maintain strong relationship with key stakeholders across government agencies to ensure alignment in implementation and ensure smooth change management
  • Lead secretariat duties for strategic meetings
  • Coordinate responses to public enquiries and stakeholder feedback
  • Establish and maintain up-to-date communication materials to proliferate awareness of the TA initiative

  • Data analytics
  • Leverage data analytics to drive policy refinements and enhance programme impact
  • Monitor and analyse programme outcomes against established KPIs
  • Provide evidence-based recommendation for policy improvements
  • Develop regular reports on programme performance and budget utilisation

[What we are looking for]

  • At least 5 years of experience in policy work and stakeholder engagement
  • Strong project and timeline management skills
  • Conscientious planner with strategic foresight, able to translate broad problem statements into specific policies and identify key issues of relevance
  • Strong policy implementation, analytical, writing, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Enjoys tackling challenges and solving complex issues, able to distil key issues from a complex set of information and synthesise diverse and conflicting range of information to shape policy, develop solutions, interventions and frameworks
  • Adaptable and comfortable with operating in an ambiguous, uncertain and fast-moving environment
  • Able to work well independently as well as in a team
  • Has a keen interest in careers and skills policies

Successful candidates will be offered a 1-year contract with potential for a 1-year extension and consideration for permanent tenure thereafter
