[What the role is]

The Graduate Industry Traineeship Programme within the Public Service (GRIT@Gov) aims to provide fresh graduates with opportunities to gain industry-relevant skills and experience that can strengthen their employability to take up full time roles in the sector.

This traineeship role within the Information Technology Division aims to provide fresh graduates with hands-on experience in IT operations and management. Through this role, the trainee will develop competencies in IT operations, problem-solving, and communication, while gaining valuable experience in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

[What you will be working on]

Key responsibilities include:

  • User Account Management: Create and manage user accounts in Active Directory, disseminate user account details to relevant parties, deactivate user accounts after their official last day, and troubleshoot account-related issues.

  • Endpoint Patching and Updates: Send reminder emails to users to switch on their devices for patching, familiarisze with KACE appliance for monitoring endpoints and deploying patches, and work with Quest support to troubleshoot patching issues.

  • Service Request Management: Create and manage service requests for endpoint and network-related issues, including provision/deprovision of endpoint devices, software installation, and VPN access.

  • Data Backup and Asset Management: Assist with weekly backup tape management, ensure data integrity, and maintain an updated inventory list of IT assets.

  • IT Support and Compliance: Provide IT support, ensure compliance with IT policies and procedures, and assist with E-Forms review and other administrative tasks.

These tasks are prioritiszed based on the job scope's emphasis on user account management, endpoint patching, and service request management, which are critical to the daily operations of the IT division. Data backup and asset management are also crucial for ensuring data integrity and compliance, while IT support and compliance tasks are essential for maintaining the overall IT infrastructure.

  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
