About this role

[What the role is]

The Venture Build division drives the creation and growth of globally competitive deep‑tech startups and emerging innovation clusters in Singapore. We work with leading venture builders, researchers, corporates, and investors to attract high‑potential founders, cultivate local talent, and accelerate the commercialisation of breakthrough technologies.

Our work spans capability development for founders and technical talent, market entry and partnership support, and the design of targeted interventions—from pilot use cases to regulatory sandboxes—that enable early adoption of new technologies.

By building deep‑tech microcosms and shaping future growth clusters in collaboration with partners across the Innovation Group, industry sectors, and government agencies, Venture Build plays a pivotal role in strengthening Singapore’s position as a global hub for deep‑tech innovation and venture creation.

[What you will be working on]

1) Development of Deep Tech Microcosms
•    Conduct ecosystem sensing and technology foresighting to shape national strategies in emerging technology domains such as Advanced Materials and Carbon Capture, Utilisation and Storage (CCUS).
•    Engage researchers, startups, corporates, investors, and thought leaders to validate market opportunities and co-develop technology roadmaps.
•    Design and implement interventions—including national infrastructure, regulatory sandboxes, pilot use cases, and public–private workgroups—to accelerate early technology adoption by companies and startup spin-offs.

2) Venture Builder & Startup Enablement
•    Identify and onboard high-potential venture builders and strategic ecosystem partners.
•    Collaborate with venture builders to design structured milestones that drive startup formation, talent hiring, pilot execution, and investment readiness.
•    Accelerate startup progress by unlocking access to technical capabilities, industry networks, and financing channels

3) Cross-Government & International Engagement
•    Collaborate with agencies such as NRF, A*STAR, IMDA, and MAS to align national strategies and policy directions.
•    Represent Singapore at global innovation platforms (e.g., Hello Tomorrow, London Tech Week) and forge strategic international partnerships.

4) Thought Leadership & Flagship Events
•    Curate deep tech panels, showcases, and keynotes for the Singapore Week of Innovation & Technology (SWITCH) and other major platforms.
•    Surface and promote success stories and emerging technologies to strengthen Singapore’s global mindshare as a leading startup hub.

5) Programme and Grant Management
•    Oversee end-to-end implementation of deep tech and startup support schemes (e.g., StartupSG Founder, StartupSG Tech and StartupSG Accelerator), from evaluation to grant execution.
•    Conduct due diligence, ensure compliance, and measure programme impact to inform future policy and scheme design.

6) Systems and Process Optimisation
•    Enhance operational workflows, digital systems, and data-tracking frameworks for efficient programme delivery.
•    Support internal planning through performance dashboards, governance processes, and strategic reviews

[What we are looking for]

Essential
•    3–5 years of experience in deep tech, venture building, corporate innovation, venture capital, or strategy/policy roles.
•    Demonstrated track record in leading innovation programmes, commercialising emerging technologies, or managing complex partnerships.
•    Strong strategic and operational capabilities—able to switch between high-level planning and hands-on execution.
•    Confident communicator and relationship builder, comfortable engaging founders, researchers, corporates, and public agencies.
•    Entrepreneurial mindset—adaptable, proactive, and effective in navigating ambiguity.

Desirable
•    Degree in Engineering, Science, or a related discipline.
•    Domain exposure in Advanced Materials and/or Climate Tech, particularly CCUS.
•    Familiarity with regulatory sandboxes, standards development, or public funding mechanisms.
•    Experience engaging global startup ecosystems or technology clusters.
