The Competence Development Manager will report to the Team Lead of Competence Development and be part of the Distribution Risk unit. 



The role involves promoting awareness and facilitating competence development, focusing on the Sales Advisory Process, Market Conduct, and the Roles & Responsibilities of Sales Representatives and Supervisors.



You will work closely with Risk & Compliance, Learning & Development and Distribution channel management to deliver robust support to our One Agency and other in-house distribution channels. You will be required to stay abreast with all applicable regulatory requirements and company’s policies and provide a comprehensive platform for learning and coaching.



In the major course of your work, you will engage and build strong relationships with sales representatives, sales supervisors, business development managers and cluster heads.  You will play a critical role in the building and growing of a professional and trusted salesforce.

Job Description:

  • Assist in executing Competence Development plan in collaboration with Learning & Development, Agency Distribution and in-house distribution channels

  • You are required to conduct thorough analysis on the sales quality and trends to identify potential misconduct risks and follow up with relevant stakeholders on remediation

  • Promote awareness of standards and best practices in Sales Advisory Process and Market Conduct.

  • Review and enhance internal processes for improved efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Monitor and ensure seamless end to end process of Pre-Transaction Checks for One Agency’s new business submission and manage outsource capabilities for quality improvement

  • Coordinate the submission of Fit and Proper (F&P) Monitoring requirements and updating representatives in the PTC and F&P monitoring register

  • Identify and escalate key trends and areas of concern for remediation.

  • Engage agency units identified with weaknesses in advisory process and compliance.

  • Participate in ad-hoc projects and initiatives as assigned by the Lead, Competence Development.

Who we are looking for:

  • Comfortable in engaging senior members of the salesforce

  • Knowledgeable in regulatory compliance requirements of the Financial Advisers Act and the Life Insurance Association of Singapore

  • Familiarity with MAS regulations and industry standards applicable to the insurance sector.

  • Understanding Needs-Based Sales Advisory Process

  • Independent, collaborative, and meticulous with a keen eye for detail.

Working Experience:

  • Minimum 3-4 years of relevant work experience in an insurance company, bank or other MAS-regulated financial institution

  • Experience in data analysis related to insurance sales and/or sales conduct would be an added advantage

Education / Professional Qualification:

  • Degree / Diploma in any discipline

  • Preferably with insurance related certifications

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Application
